Today my friend and i were talking about HID kits, and he said that a law was just passed that made them illegal to sell by a vender,(so some one cant go and make and sell hid kits). do yall know anything about this?

I guess they concider them to be too bright. It's like driving aroung with your high beams on and not being able to turn them off.....that's my educated guess.

Cliff Note: Too many people get blinded.

no it's cause in a few years it will be standered on all cars... so they might make them dearl only instelled equipments..

well aftermarket fog lights are illiagel to sell for street use.. they are off road only .. but they still get sold and used on street .. same thing will happen with the HID.. they will sell them with off road use only printed on them...

They'll only be standard when the price of them drops a considerable amount. They're relatively new and still optional equipment on BMWs and stuff. You wont see them standard on alot of cars for a good 5 yrs.

The problem is that people put them in halogen housings. Where the light isnt concentrated in one spot but its all over and its blinding people.
If you have a projector housing, u shouldnt have a problem because the light is cut off beyond a point.

No, just oncomming traffic, lol. But i guess they can be adjusted enough to meet LHD specs.

Not exactly. The beam is controlled alot more in projectors. If you saw pics of a converted to HID houisng thats not projector, its all over the place. If you had LHD projectors u'd be set, but the JDM housings cater to a RH driver, so there is "flare" that can distract oncoming drivers.

I've aimed mine slightly inwards and down and we'll see how that works. With projectors tho u'd be less likely to get harassed by the po-po.
