more than likely its the axel or cv if youd like, you may also want to check the wheel hub bearing

its the axle, i'm almost sure of it. I'm having the same problem. You can drive on it still and you should be fine. Take it to the mechanic when you get a chance.

The passenger side CV joint is $59.99(USD) from AutoZone. I'd imagine that the driver side is about the same. I haven't changed mine yet, just got some prices because I need to do it soon(same low speed clicking while turning).

I haven't changed mine as yet because i got a winter beater, but a rebuilt axle is 85 cdn plus core. Make sure you let the shop know if you got abs or not, it makes a difference in the axle.

Hey veilside if its the cv joint look under the front of the car and look behind the drivers wheel u will see a rubber gator at the end of the driveshaft if u can see its split and chucking grease out all over the place then i would say it the cv joint , also does it only do it when turning?? if so then its the cv joint , have u looked at the tyre there could be a nial in it (i had that prob)..hope u get it sorted m8

looks heres what u do, take off your tire, check the inner and outta boots if either one of them is ripped u might be able to get away just changing the boots, 30 bucks for a kit at toyota, but if its way bad then u must change the entire cv, im not saying its for sure but i dont see what else it could be than the cv, unless its the wheel bearing as i stated earlier

Go here, check the troubleshooting link
http://www.raxles.com/fundamen.htm and if I need to do any in the future, I will buy a NEW joint and put it on my axle, the rebuilt axle assemblys dont last (in my experience). Or a NEW assembly from Raxles or somebody. This post has been edited by 97GTinKC: Apr 10, 2004 - 8:51 AM |

,,,And watch those rebuilt axles, all they seem to do on the cheap ones is wash them out, maybe drop new ball bearings in (on the worn races), new boots and resell them, put 3 in my Mazda in 18 months, yes they are warrantied, but its a pain in the ass to keep changing them.
