there are just 4 bolts that hold your valve cover gasket.
remove the 4 bolts take off the old gaskets with your hand replace with oem ones and put back together. issue solved. all this will cost you about 30 bucks if you do it yourself |

Let me get this right:
To change the Valve cover gasket, you just un hook the plug wires, then undo the 4 bolts, and the cover comes right off?? Cause mine is starting to leak a little This post has been edited by Jeremy1210: Apr 10, 2004 - 7:51 AM |

Cant scan it, but on the 5sfe, shop manual says pull plug wires, then 4 nuts on the spark plug tubes, lift off cover. also says to mark the grommets and re-use them on the same locations to avoid leaks if not using new ones. |

i had the same problem with the oil leaking. just order the new seals from a dealer and put them in. i would suggest replacing all of them. when i did it i just replaced the leaking one and when i put it back together another one started leaking. also be careful getting the old ones. they harden over time and break apart when you try to remove them.

Get some toyota seal packing to use in there as well. That stuff will stop leaks just about anywhere.

i painted my valve cover (7afe) and replaced the valve cover gasket
then it started leaking oil you need to get the little gaskets that are around the studs (the four nuts that hold the cover on ) they look like washers w/ rubber on them they are like 30 cents a piece from toyota i replaced those w/ new ones and it was still leaking from the valve cover you know the bolt that holds the alternator wire cover i torqued the **** out of that one and now it doesnt leak ... easy fix lol but yeah make sure you get all the gaskets at once |
