you have some options, it was in 2 JDM corollas, and the mk1 mr2, but you want the levin/corolla 4agze
ae92 - 165 HP, MAF ae101 - 170 HP, MAP, optional LSD you can get clips from Jarcoinc.com, give them a call, they have the best prices. the 4agze will drop right in to an ST, and i believe on a 5th gen you can use the axles that come with the clip as well. with a 5th gen, you'll need either a hood scoop or upgrade to a front mount intercooler, the top mount will heatsoak superfast with no scoop. i'd go front mount, myself. possible upgrades, you can get a pulley to up the boost, cusco, hks, nevo all make them, check out here for 4agze upgrade info, you may have to upgrade the water pump with some of these pulleys. www.board.mr2faq.com also, running an exhaust/header/intake will give you some nice power, and the intercooler will of course up the HP as well. you can take it to about 200 at the crank with these mods. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

the tranny should go right up..but if he gets the full clip he can convert to the 5spd...the A engines use the same tranny though, as far as the 4afe/7afe/4agze...so he should be fine..

last time i checked, you would just switch out the whole tranny...if you're gonna swap the engine, you're gonna wanna have a 5spd regardless.

well, the big problem is that i don't know if the auto tranny can take the torque. if it were a 20V 4age, sure, probably wouldn't be a big deal, but i know that the Levin 4agze did not have an auto tranny option. the only one i know of is the 88-89 Mr2 SC had a good auto transmission that could take the abuse. I'd perhaps look into getting one of those, or teaching your friend to drive stick. or buying a few extra celica auto trannies for when the one he has blows. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

then he shouldn't do a swap if he's being a cheap ass. if he's gonna do it, he needs to do it right. not w/ the bare minimum...he'll probably need to source some new belts, new plugs and wires, a fuel pump if he doesn't get one w/ the engine, etc etc. it'd also be a good idea to get some gauges to see what's goin on w/ the new engine and all that... cheap isn't how you do a swap. IMO that is. -John- -------------------- |

i know the 6th gen axles are fine, so i'd think the 5th would be ok...only up to around 200 whp...but him being a cheap ass, i don't think he needs to worry about that. . after the 200 range, custom axles will be in order.
btw, which 4agze is he lookin at? out of what chasis? -John- -------------------- |
