my celica has been having a hard time starting. the problem started to happen last summer. it was fine all winter long, and now that its getting warm again, its getting worse.
when you turn the key, the car starts up, but wants to die right away. you have to give it some gas to keep it going. after that everyting is normal. on cold days i do not have this problem. what could be the cause of this? is the starter starting to die? i have 50,000miles on the car.

Don't forget the fuel filter. It costs less than 20 bucks and takes 30 minutes(or less) to change. I had some bad idle problems and changing the fuel filter fixed it.

i did the plugs, cap, rotor and wires about 6 months ago, so it cant be those. ill look into the fuel filter, but you would think that i would also be having poblems starting when the car was cold, if that was the problem. like i said, this only happens when its hot.

could it be that the starter is not cranking it enough? maby my batterie is starting to die?

I'd check for any engine codes also, could be some sensor acting up when its warm. May be cheaper in the long run to get it diagnosed rather than just replacing things...although the fuel filter should be replaced every 30k or so anyway.

no check engine light comes on, so its not sending out any codes.
