I dunno. I think that it would come out to be about the same. I know the shop by me quoted me at 2300 for a clip. JDM sells the engine w/ tranny for $1000. How much is a 5sfe kit going to run you? I havn't really looked into it, I think I heard 2500. My engine has too many miles on it for me to turbo and have it last long, so I'm going with the swap.

what y'all concern to many miles? I've heard of early 90s cars getting turboed w/ no problems on stock engines. If the compression test works then u should b good to go if you do it right.

QUOTE (shid @ Apr 19, 2004 - 4:09 PM)
I think I'm going to go 5S-FTE for a couple reasons

I don't have the money to spend on a swap
I don't have the time to donate my car to a shop, even for only 3 weeks or so
I have a vert, which is already chopped in half. It probably can't hande that much power
I don't need that much power

if those are your reasons then you are not ready for a swap or a custom turbo.

think about it this way. with a turbo, you are adding something to the engine that it never designed to handle. the is a huge risk of engine failure due to something you did wrong or something that went wrong outside of your control. so in the end you may end up in a situation where:

youll have to spend a ton of money trying to fix things as they break.

blow up your engine and be without your car for months.

end up having to do a swap, even if its for another 5sfe.

You sure about that??A highbred 5s might have more power psi for psi, but stock I doubt it..

Besides a 3sgte can handle more psi without modification. 3sgte is more practical.

There's no way we could duplicate one of those setups in a 6gc, plus it'd be probably more expensive than a 3sgte swap alone (since you need all those 3sgte parts)
