The only reason i would say dont, is because, well... my house, we have only ever owned like gm, and then my pops bought two ford exploders, and both died with in 6 months, they both only have around 160-170k, an weve replaced stuff sence we got them. The mustangs are cool, an im sure alot better, but alos remember gas.. insurance. but other then that, get it, they look phat

I say go for it! Out with the old in with the new.
6GC's and the new Mustang's are both slick cars. But with the Stang you get RWD, new styling, and more power (But it still isn't GREAT power..). With the Mustang, you'll be unique for a *little* bit, because soon they will be everywhere, because Mustangs are everywhere. You can't buy a Mustang and expect to be unique, imo. -------------------- |

I got beat by my friend's auto V6 Mustang with my old engine. I don't think a ST would come close to beating a Mustang GT. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

A V6 stang auto, would stomp a manual ST. Stock to Stock that is. Even with IEH the ST wouldn't do much.

Man Ill have what ever your smoking, besides the low end version that sits between 145hp-200hp the rest of the v8 models are between 215hp-390hp. No stock st would beat any of those cars with equal drivers and trans, a gt would be a match for the low end mustang but after that they would kill. Mustangs are fast ass cars, yes heavy but if you have a svt cobra with 390hp you wont be worried about an extra 1000 pounds. But I hate ford, I would by a celica over a Mustand anyday, the money you spend fixing the damn rustang you could do a swap on the celica and bring it up to par with the likes of the svt cobra. Does anyone really know about recent ford quality?? Obviously 80's through 90's were total crap years, what about like 2000 and up? are they starting to smarten up? I know a buddy who had a 2001 cougar and the thing went through like 3 auto transmissions and a snapped steering column before no more major problems, and Im talking months after the purchase these things happened. |

parents have owned ford. Never had a problem w/ our bronco II, got over 100K miles on it w/ no problems other than needing a new muffler. My mom has a new explorer, pretty nice, and my dad has a '01 Tauras and has more miles than my celica. he's just done maintence and needed new rotors 'cause they were warped.

I will say this: Ford is just like any other car. Take care of it, and it will last you. And as far as the Broncos with 170,000 miles...what did you expect? The previous owners probably abused the hell out of it. I'm not defending Ford in any way. They do/did make some pretty solid engines. But they did design some of the ugliest cars ever, with my vote going to the early 90s Mustang, and Probes. Just remember, unlike the Celica, if you buy that Mustang, theres a good chance your neighbor down the road will have one too. And that neighbor's neighbor...and so on.

If it was a early 90s Stang...those V6s only put out 130 or so. |

the first two years of the Ford Focus sucked, there were so many complaints and recalls it was insane. But after the initial two years, they have become one of the most reliable cars out there and consistantly make every car magazines top buys list since.
I love the way the new mustang looks too, but IMHO i would wait until at least the second production year to get one. Let Ford work out the kinks first, and then youll have a great car with less worries. -------------------- Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it... |

Another big thing is interior quality! Just terrible, any ford I see thats a few years old has stuff peeling and falling apart all over, my old bosses 2001 harley f150 is so nice but man the interior is just crap.
