Nobody has swapped the AWD into any Celica yet. There are a few peepz trying but its a pretty DAMN hard swap. There may be one person or so in the world who has done it but you're talking about a FREAKING hard swap. Your better off just going 3sgte FWD, it works and gets results. IMHO if you really want the AWD, import a gt4, it'll be much easier and probably get better results.

LOL, i guess it would take alot of time and money to do such conversion. Alot of customizing as well. I heard that the gas tank also has to be reshaped in order to replace FWD to AWD.

I believe toysport sell a package to complete the swap. It should be hard, but i imagine it would require the motor, tranny, rear dif, transaxle, and possibly the complete gt-4 suspension. My opinon is that its not worth unless you plan on rally racing. A swapped 3sgte FF will smoke a GT-4. More power to the wheels. The launch won't be as good, but you should be able to catch a GT-4 by the end of the 1/4 mile

yep in your dreams buddy, life is not a straight line! if you want a car that does fast 1/4 mile times then get a rwd with big fat tyres. If your planning to use the car on the road and u race a gt4 and get left behind at the traffic lights wat are you going to say ' up to 60mph you beat me but after 90 i would have had your ass!' if someone said that 2 me id probably be laughing so hard i might crash!

Seen a lot of people ask about this, and my buddy swears to god that he's going to make a AWD MR-2.

Realistically, go out & buy another car if you want AWD. In the *YEARS* that i've been around on these boards, take a guess how many "successful" AWD conversions i've ever heard of?

three. including the one on this thread. oh, and including neverstops conversion, which he claims didn't work well anyway. Everyone else talks about it, ask questions about it. I mean really, if it was that popular of a swap, or that easy, you'd think you would find more info on it on the internet, eh? Oh, and more pictures.. none of which i've seen yet, besides that magazine article which I can't even read anyway.

Really guys, I don't think from a safety standpoint, or even it being worth your time, is this even possible.

i think the main problem is that the celica comunity is very small and most people just focus on having a nice looking car. so you dont have like 50 guys trying to do new things to make the celica the fastest car on the road with the best traction.

if someone told the guys from the Monster Garage show to convert a celica to awd. they would laugh because it would be too easy for them to do.

AWD 205----> biggrin.gif thought all 205's where AWD wink.gif

newayz... im sure alot of you have been expecting me to post here... well I wasn't gonna but figure I prolly should.

FIRST OFF lets not turn this into a huge debate..... with that said:

YES I did to this conversion. NO it wasn't too hard once everything was ready to go, infact me and a few friends did it in a days work.

if you get the parts for cheap, which I got mine from the same guy I got my 3sgte from. there really wasn't too much cuztomizing. the exhaust had to be moved, the gastank has to be relocate, and the floor panel cut to fit the rear end and some minor welding was done by one of my buddies to help mount it.

I WOULD NOT RECOMEND DOING THIS! I had nothing but problems with it... part of that might of been just we just kinda put it in there with not alot of pre planning or thought behind it. If your gonna attempt it then pay a professonal to do it.

as for photos I have some.. but like I have said before I am not quite sure where they are, I have moved twice since I took them and have not been able to find them yet, and before I was unwilling to show them cuz I wanted to wait until I had the car finished, but I have changed that think as of late. This is the only photo I can supply right now just cuz its on my computer and it really doesn't show much besides where I patched the trunk floor back up. I can go take an underside shot if neone whats it but all it will show right now is a stock rearend with a patched floor. I will continue to look for the other photos and will post them once I find them.

actually the bodywork thing is something I have only been doing for the last few years... I built my 1st motor when I was 8 years old and have been working with cars off and on since then.

Like I said before lets not turn this into a huge debate/argueement... if you have something like that to say to me then contact me directly instead of cluttering up yet another topic with mindless bickering.
