Hello everybody,
I know it probably says i'm a new member, I actually couldn't remember my sign in name, meaning there was no way I could get my password. So, here I am, spunky393. Anyways, to the point. I live in Quincy Illinois, right across the river from West Quincy, Missouri. A new-found friend of mine, Shawn Lile (one of the greatest genious and talented people i've ever met dealing with cars), and we were talking one day at his new shop in West Quincy. He was talking to me about how he wished more cars with potential would come to his shop (don't get me wrong, he has more than enough cars to work on already, he famous!). He then looked over at my white, '98 Toyo Celica GT, and said "now that car has some potential." That's where I quickly corrected him, telling him no one makes anything, at least I thought I was correcting him. Here's the kicker, If enough people on this wonderful 6th Generation Celica site want fully working headers and COLD air intakes, I would be glad to give my car up for the time he needs. Just give me feed back, PLEASE and thanks. im sure if someone came up with a decently designed header for the 5sfe for our cars, he'd have a line of people waiting...

A header is definately something on the 'NEED' list of the celica community.. specifically the GT users, most people just go custom because of the severe lack of aftermarket for our cars.

we already have cai, those are everywhere but we really need a header for the gt. it would be nice if you could get rid of the cat while you were at it. or at least have the option

It's me again. You guys are really helping me out here, haha. For anybody wondering, the COLD air and headers would only be for the GT.
And, if you mean getting rid of the converter that is built right into the stock factory headers, yes. If you mean driving around without any converter at all, that's just a bad idea. It turns out our 2.2 5S-FE engine can't run without having a little back pressure. So, a little turbo converter (built in the exaust pipingof course) and the nice turbo flow muff, that turns out to be the perfect or somewhat perfect backpressure combo. Yeah it's an ST.. Also you might want to check around for 90's Camry aftermarket parts.. or the 90's MR-2 with the 5SFE engine in it. Most of the parts are interchangeable. This post has been edited by sinner96ST: Apr 22, 2004 - 9:25 PM |

The problem with the MR-2 headers for the 5S-FE (hotshot makes them), is the angle of our engine. It's about 40 degrees back (if i remember right) meaning attaching the mr-2 headers would cause the "out" part of the headers to point nearly towards the ground.

One quick question, would you guys want the stuff shipped to you from his shop if you indeed bought his finished product, or how does that work on here?

Well, if anybody is curious about the cold air intake, he'll design it to more than likely go under the battery tray, and somehow get it in front of the radiator, meaning little to no chance of getting in a puddle (inless you drive into a lake) and the freshest blast of cold air.

I'll try to get that info to you people about both products (Headers and Cold Air) as soon as I can, hopefully by tonight. I'm praying that i'm not going to have any problems getting this done. Just keep on giving me your questions and opinions. Thanks.
