well to check for fuel.. you can pressure test the fuel line to make sure your getting pressure, you will also want to check to make sure the fuel injectors are pulsing, easiest way to do this is to touch the injectors and have someone turn the key to the car on/engine off postion. you shoud feel a vibration directly in the injector. another thing you might want to do is go and purchase a NOID light from autozone or some place like that. you will need to unplug the wire connecter on the injectors and plug in the noid light to that then try and turn over the car.. the noid light will flash on and off and that will tell you if your injectors are fireing or not. to check for spark easiest way is to 1st undo the distributor cap and they and turn over the car.. check to make sure that the needle is moving at about 1 rmp per second or so.. every car is a little differnt but that is a decent base to go by. also make sure that its not too corroded or nething. if everything looks fine then hook the distributor cap back on and take out your sparkplugs one at a time, once you get the plug out connect it back to the wire and touch the end of it to something metal under the hood.. valve cover or exhaust manifold works good for this, then have someone turn over the car.. if you see a spark then the plug is firing.. check condition of the plug if its nasty repalce it. repeat this for all 4 plugs. If all this checks out then its either a air problem or a sensor is bad or your just missing something. I would check to make sure that the O2 sens is good. also might wanna check the cataliytic to make sure its not gummed up.. it prolly wont be cus the cat is HUGE on the 3sgte but theres always a possiblity... easiest way to check if the exhaust system is plugged up is to have some one turn the car over while you put your hand over the exhaust tip... if you can feel the exhaust pushing you hand then its prolly fine. hope that helps man... also check the fuses... prolly not the prob but you never know -------------------- 99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =) |

check the ignition system. check that the ignitor is plugged all the way in, same for the coil, and that all connections are made.
Also, it may not have set off a check engine light yet (or if your check engine light even works) you could check that. |

well i got most of things worked out except for the spark plugs . They just will not spark????? i have it narrowed down to where i know that the coil is getting about 2-3 volts of power from the two wires that plug into it. After that..... i get no kind of spark signal at the cap and rotor at all. how can i check the coil itself to see if it is good or bad?
thanks for all your help guys!!!!! appreciate it alot, DG -------------------- |

alright!!!! i figured out my problem. i had a little help from a guy from another country but it is all good now. i had a low voltage reading and was not sure if it was supposed to be that way or not. i have been trying to get ahold of mike for like 2 weeks to ask him about it. he must be busy or something.... so i just started testing my own ideas of what i think could be bad and when the guy that i emailed said that "the reading should be 12 v and not 2.5" i got a idea and put it to the test and it all worked out.
i am excited to hear the engine run for the first time. i now have a clutch problem that i am unsure of? for some reason i am not getting full grip and i will have to find out why. i will keep you guys posted as i finish up my car really soon i guess doing all my own work and saving my money was a good idea! and get this guys...... it only took me a month to finish the swap. Update:
Well almost all bugs have been worked out ...... the car has all panels back on and i have driven the celi for the last 2 days. my speedo and odometer is not working for some reason ? i think i will have that prob worked out soon but i just want to break in the clutch so i am guessing my speed at the moment. feels good so far but i notice a hesitation around 5000 rpm like the turbo is cutting out or something???? not sure if it is a prob yet cause i dont want to stomp it to the floor quite yet. cant really just go out and stomp it down and see if it does it all the time till my clutch is broke in a little more. if anyone has an idea of something that may be, just feel free to let me know! hummmm, what else...... uuhhh i have to recut the front end to get it to fit with the big front mount. i am just runnin the old front end for now. i noticed a big difference in the handling with the side tower bars i put on. and i am not just saying that either. bad thing with em is that now i feel more little road bumps cause they really make the car too stiff in my opinion..... but oh well. i guess since my tires are about the thickness of rubber bands that it does not help the situation. oh yeah.....and i am just running my 2.25 exhaust till i finish my full 3" setup. i think that is all DG -------------------- |
