Before my car had it's 75k mile checkup, it was shaking at the weirdest times- it'd shake from 65-80 mph, mildly shake 80-90, shake really hard 90-100, and then be the smoothest ride ever 100+.

weird

the shaking comes after i changed to 16" wheels with new BF Goodrich tires from walmart and installed Tein S-Tech.
Is it the alignment problem? my technician told me that i dun need to do my alignment after just a 1.5"drop... so how?
whats a hubcentric rings anyway?? sorry im new...

Your problem is that you need a new technician! If he told it doesn't need an alignment then he should be working on cars. Go get that thing aligned. It will save you from buying new tires this time next year. That may not be why it's shaking but it needs to be done. It could be that they ain't balanced like andason said. When you're going that fast and it shakes, it almost sounds like your struts aren't dampening correctly<although I doubt thats the problem.

Balanced, hubcentric rings is a good possibilaty they are the lil peices on the outside and inside of the rim, Alot of times shops will skimp or put em on crappy so they will fall off, another possiblity its the Struts or even worse your axles.

its true just balance it, if your car is preferering one direction to the other it alignment if its shaking then its balance. I just did both at same time.

aftermarket wheels need hubcentric rings. Im sure walmart balanced the tires they put on. If they didnt then they are retarded but i would say that they did balance them. Also, you probably do need a alignment after the springs. Anytime you lower your car it causes some negative camber. I would get some hubcentric rings and also go get a alignment.

Stock everything. Shakes from 68-81. HOWEVER, if I let the car heat up for a full 5 minutes before I go driving (like I usually do), then I get no shakes. The thing is, after 81.. it's smooth sailing. Granted, the pedal is literally on the floor, but it's a really really smooth ride.. I cruise at 100 a lot more than anyone ever should.

i see the hubcentric rings on ebay... i have alloy ones on my celica but i dont know which would be better. I dont really think it matters much because all the have to do it allow the wheel to sit flush and straight on the hub.

Here is another site that sells them..they cost alot more here though
