Two tone color as in color-shifting paint, like Duplicolor's Mirage paint? If yes, I'd think that it'd stick, as long as you completely sanded down all the wheels. You'd probably also want some sort of a really strong clear coat to protect the paint from brake dust and stuff.

I'm guessing you mean keeping a couple spokes alloy and painting a few to match the color of your car....if so IMHO I don't think it would look that good. Sorta reminds me of the wheels on a clown car at the circus. I think if you painted the center caps to match your car's color it would give the wheels a subtle customized look, but as we say around here, it's your car.

I believe Verde97 did these to some 17's he had. Got them silver he painted them black himself. Turned out well. Try and contact him. Here or on celica.net.
I also believe he posted pics of his finished wheels also and a few during the painting process. |

Yeah I was thinking about doing that to my stockers since buying wheels right now is on hold also. But who knows? I think it cost about $200-$300 when I last checked at a black here in my area. Is that a good price? |

Didn't speedtoe do that to some GT-S wheels, like black with a polished lip? I think it was him.
Anyway they looked really good IMO. I don't know about our stockers though. I don't think that the wheels are really set up for anything like that. Ther spokes are too wide IMO. But do what you will.....and best of luck doing it. |

I have 18's CelicaQT
I hope you got my email Nigel. Thanks for contacting me. If anyone knows how to do this, it's me I kind of learned how to do it little by little, but the idea first started in the DIY forum here on 6gc.net. Everyone check out my pics in the members rides forum to see how they turned out. Soon, I am going to polish the inside lip to make it silver, so the only black part left will be the spokes and part of the center cap. -------------------- |
