700 hp 3S-GTE

Sorry if this is a repost or if you guys know about it already, I thought it was pretty cool..

But personally, for that $$$ I'd go for a 1200hp 2JZGTE
If I had a mkiv of course..

*all* the race supras use the 3sgte...even the top secret supra that does 0-200 in 12 seconds. its a much lighter engine, and you can get the same amount of power out of it...that 700hp 3s is actually in a supra...so yummy...

I cant really see how that engine can be a 3SGTE. The setup looks very different. Anyway, my mechanic is currently setting up a 700 bhp 3SGTE on a GT4. I will check it out and let you know. he had a 450 bhp engine on that car but wanted more so he sold the engine and started all over again with a 3SGTE engine from an MR2 which he got really chiep. he paid so far about $10k for parts, $600 for the engine, $2500 for some new Turbo he is bringing from the States and he was planning to begin working on it last month.

btw he put the old engine on a fwd 6 gen and wooot that thing could spin tyres in 4th gear. just amazing tongue.gif

um, actually the only supra's that have the 3s-gte are ones made for top speed (like the top secret with the 3s-gte)..... the only reason for doing so is because it makes more of a balanced car, and they can mount the smaller motor closer to the firewall, making it more sturdy at higher speeds....

And another reason is for them to be able to compete in the lower category from what i remember when i first read the article.

dunno about it being only for top speed. they used to run 3sgte's in all the jgtc supras before they switched to the 3uzfe.

very possible...weve made 568whp on a GT-4 already...that tranlates to about ~640 crank hp...see that we made this running through 4wheels on a dyno jet.

Aston Martin would get it's ass handed to it by a Celica with that motor for less than half the price.

On a side note, I went and looked at buying this car...
http://www.suprastore.com/19sutwtuau.html
I drooled driving it and I think the guy got pist cuz the steering wheel and driver's seat and anywehre that I was or touched was sopping wet with sweat and drool...and a little bit snot since I had a cold and was sneezing. I didn't buy it though because insurance would have killed me more than the Rex does.
