Everytime i start up my car, i get a rather large puff of blueish smoke out of my exhuast?? Is this normal and if not, what does it mean?? I bought her with 100,000 on it so im not exactly sure how she was driven before me, but its been this way for about a year now and i was just wonderin if this is serious or is there anything i can do to get that nasty stuff out of her system...

I hope my baby isnt sick confused.gif

Blue smoke normally indicates oil getting into the combustion chamber. When was the head gasket last changed? It could also indicate valve stem seal problems or broken or worn piston rings. Using thicker weight engine oil or an oil additive designed to reduce oil leaks might help reduce the amount of oil leaking into the cylinder.

Depending on your engine type, your dealer should have serviced these parts as part of the major 'B' service (every 60k miles or so). Check with the last owner or log book to make sure this was done - in particular the head gasket change. If it was not done get it done asap.

yeah, i was going to say, your piston rings.. thats the biggest sign, besides using a thicker oil, you could also try risolin, it its like 3 bucks at autozone, it pretty much thickens the oil more, but is saposed to help lub and rejuvinate your rigns an seals, the cheaps fix, its worth a try...
