Lately i am thinking of selling my 1998 GT4 because i am an accountant and i am supposed to drive a more conservative car. well not really, but as i am getting older i may want something in the 4dr category. The thing is that due to import duties I cannot really get any car that has an engine size more than 2.2 L. The only option that i like is the Altezza (IS 200). I really like the RX300 but due to engine size thats out of the question.
What do you think? Is the GT4 a keeper? Should i even bother trying to see if there is something out there for me? btw, there is no focking way i am leaving the Toyota family. |

ya know what, sell it, go on and sell it, after that you will suffer!!! So what that you are accountant? Get another 4 door sedan, sell your curren and get 4 dors instead of curren.

Yea i was planning to sell my curren but no luck so far. The reason that i am even considering this is that i may be able to sell the GT4 for about $5,000 more than it cost me. But nothing sure so far.
and btw I can easily get another used GT4 for a lot less but thats not really an issue. I really believe that there is nothing better than the GT4 but sometimes you just wonder what's out there. The only think i could trade it in for is the new RX300. I can get a Toyota version of it brand new but iwth 2wd and a 2.3L engine. The problem why i havent already got it is that there is additional import duty of about $30,000 because the engine is 0.1L more Import duty for a 2.2L car is about $10k import duty for a 2.3L car is about $40k doesnt this suck. Actually up to 2250 cc is $5 of import duty per cc. for larger engines its $16 per cc. |

its so funny to see you guys talk about this, because i spend all weekend thinking about selling my car for an evo. the whole time i was thinking "man, if they only sold the gt4 in the US, i wouldnt be dreaming about another car". the truth is that over time we all get bored with our cars and find a reason to look at something new. im in a position where an evo would be affortable but would also cut into any extra savings i have. i think you should keep your car becuase you have a great platform to work with, awd+turbo. if you are getting bored of your car, then start doing new mods to it, it will look and feel like new again.
most people i know become accountants so that they can afford a fast sports car, not a crappy sedan. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Ha ha ha ha this made my day. Actually I am not interested about Imprezas and Evos. The GT4 is a much better sports car than those. If i get a 4 dr sedan it would be something classy (and not necessarily that fast) but it should have some sports features. Does anybody know if there is a new Altezza/IS200 yet? |

Neoklis.....If you think you should sell your car go for it,cuz maybe somebody really waiting for it!!!!!hahaha:) Generally people love GT4s but as your said b4 you getting older(cheap excuse) my dad is 52 years old(Ex Rally Driver) and everytime that he is driving my GT4 he is telling me that was the best choice i v done(my previous cars JDM 2.2 VTEC Prelude and JDM WRX).Driving this car is really fun and i`m very happy that i`m driving a NATURAL Toyota Beast:) I think you should go for the IS200(i like this car very much),excellent driving and handling and nice appearance also. Make a good move as usually you are and go with a Toyota car. If you need any help for selling your car i can help you:),i have many "crazy" people asking me for GT4s all the time!!!! |

Well, the only reason why i a thinking of selling it would be because i also have the Curren so i need to get rid of one of the two. I really dont want to sell the GT4 because it was my dream car for over 20 years. I was hooked on the celis from the gen 1. My father had one when i was a kid and that was the car i learned how to drive(got to love rwd) As Carlos sainz was winning those WRC championships i knew that someday i would get one.
Oh well, i had some recent kills that make me want to keep the GT4. some of them are: 1. BMW Z3 2. BMW 320i 3. BMW 520i 4. Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC 5. riced out WRX impreza 6. Integra type R 7. Civic Type R 8. EVO 6 (I know it doesn't seem possible but i had a much better take off so i guess he just quited) Before i make any moves i will wait for my Apexi exhaust that i got from Neverstop and then i will go through with my own personal design rear underspoiler and some new rims. If i am not that impressed with the result i might decide to sell (dont really think so though as i believe the car will be just perfect by the end of the month and that would perfect for the summer) |

Leather seats - Check Tinted windows - Had that on my Curren, did not like much but was o.k. Respray - Did the whole center console Mobile holder - Have a very small one on my curren - will put in my GT4 if i find a new one like that somewhere. DVD - Far too expensive to get in my country. Anyway i live in a small island where distances are quite short (home to work = 2 mins, home to gym = 5 mins, home to beach = 5-10 mins , Across my town from one end to the other = 20 mins cruising) |

You are correct. Now that i think about it distances seem to be alot shorter now that i have the GT4. 2 reasons:
1. Like driving the 4 2. Its a GT4 - enough said ha ha. I have to say that I am not keen on selling as i dont think there are good replacements at least in my country. I just need some re-assurance guys. |

Yeah keep it bro. I've decided not to do the swap on mine, and wait until 2009/10 when we can import them freely. I will probably get a skyline or supra to keep me busy in the meantime.

ahhh you guys suck, I am out here in Tennessee and I have never even seen a fake gt4, and you guys are talking like they are a civic or camaro haha. I would kill for a gt4, if you can't tell I am very jelious.
But best of luck to man in what ever you choose, IS200s are really nice cars. and maybe you should try and send the gt4 to america...maybe the East Coast? haha -Brandon -------------------- |
