Thanks for this post Mac. I really have been wondering about this when I take the ST out for a spin. I can enjoy driving the car more now without having to worry about shifting exactly at 4000 RPM's.

QUOTE (forkee @ May 5, 2004 - 2:20 AM)
i shift around 4-5. after 6 it doesnt really accelerate just gets loud

The Top power of N/A ST is at about 5400 rpm, after that the power curve start to go down (incase you have some mods for top end power), so i usually shift about 6400 - 6600 rpm just that then my rpm drops down during shifting, that it droped right on the power and not at about 4K rpm...usually shifting at about 6400 the into the second gear the rpm drops at about 5200-5400 so that on the top of the power line...

I get a smooth shift around 3500, and I do it quick (ZEX lightweight flywheel). When I am racing or being a teenager I usually just shift by my engine sound, I guess its around 5500-6000

I never understand people bitchin about fuel prices... Like a 10c difference in price is like $2-3 a tank. Big deal.. someone who is poor enough to notice $3 a week shouldn't be driving a celica? What if you have to change your brake pads or oil!!

ouch kinda harsh dude. Personally I think the celica is for the tasteful driver not just for the rich ass hole driver.

hmm lets see....

when i got my celica, gas was around a buck fiddy... now its around two ten... thats $0.60 difference. i normally fill up twice a week, around 15 gals each time. thats $18 different a week, not $3... 52 weeks a year? about $950 extra a year for gas.... so STFU, cuz you can't say you wouldnt mind an extra $950...
