QUOTE (5sfeTurbo @ May 7, 2004 - 9:17 PM)
That would kick arss,
2ZZ-GE w/ internal 8.5.1 drop= Higher levels of boost WITH VVTl-i. that would rock!

*Response* "Blah argha maghand 3SGTE is better taetu rirhdblah blahgha"

VVTLI would be a major limiting factor

the L would cause slower turbo spool since the exhaust flow doesnt drastically increase till 6krpm and with the compression lowered to 8.5:1, the car would have absolutely no power untill boost came on

VVTI would be pretty good, but if you want better power, its better to go with non variable valve timing.

i read somewhere that the VVTi supras couldnt handle nearly as much boost/power as the regular ones. im not too sure on the details, but the point is, with out VVT(L)i, the swap is simpler, the turbo would spool more quickly, and the head will have less parts that can break.

Where did you read that? Everything i have read has said the vvti engine was 5 times the engine of the earlier one.

they say that its more expensive, the wiring is harder, and that its harder to tune.

plus they dont even know if it will hold up
