Downforce isnt the point the spoiler looks like it would create lift rather than downforce. Bike can exhausts have a bit of a poor reputation in the uk fitted on some horrendous cars, her celica deserves better. however, if she likes the lights thatsd up 2 her This post has been edited by uzthedentist: May 12, 2004 - 4:15 PM -------------------- GT4 ST205 79 modifications and rising!!

So the stock spoiler on my 94 GT @ 135hp is going to reach a speed where the spoiler is actually needed? Unless you have a car which can reach speeds where spoilers are needed, then you have something thats RWD and more powerful than 135hp.

yes it is actually. can u remember the audi tt recall because they initially couldnt stop in a straight line at 75mph? they had to add a spoiler on the back for stability. the same with the hyundai tiburon. TVRs and aston martins can both reach speeds in excess of 150mph. theyre rwd and dont use rear spoilers. I agree that a lot of manufacturers add rear spoilers for looks, but many are added for stability, especially for fwd cars as they act utterly stupidly under braking -------------------- GT4 ST205 79 modifications and rising!!

Your points are all correct, however I still have to disagree with you on the daily driven street cars. We really dont brake at speeds where first u have downforce applied and second when the downforce is gone to the point that you need a stabilizing spoiler.
The TT has a design flaw, thats why there was a recall. But your cars like the Camry, Altima and what not they dont need spoilers. I think only a few of the most popular cars have spoilers which are necessary. And those cars that reach speeds like that dont use spoilers for a couple reasons. First the entire design of the car is to decrease lift and create its own downforce. And secondly, spoilers just wont look good on those cars. I think its safe to say that the use of spoiler varies with the car. But i think that the usefulness compared to cosmetic use is like 30/70 with our cars. And by our cars i mean USDM. Obviously its different for the ST205 as it carries over aspects of the WRC version. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: May 12, 2004 - 7:06 PM -------------------- |

Hmm...I think I met him at a local meet. He was talking to me about my Celica and I kept asking him "Now why did you put Integra taillights on your car again?" Hehe.

The original Altezza clear tailights were good, but when everyone started trying
to clone them and tailor them to their own cars, some of them just don't work. Some look as if they're made of the clear bits of plastic you had left over in that model aircraft kit you had as a kid... |

Ill give her props for trying something different, if she likes her tails like that then good for her. The stuff i do to my car i do it cause i like the way it looks, not because everyone else does. I think one of the best thing about owing a car like a celica, is that you customize it to exactly how you want it. I think it would suck if every car was the same. People may not like her tails but it will get attention cause its definitly different. The one tailconversion i really do like though is the s2000 tails that sometimes pops up when your browsing this site.
