I typically shift at 3,000 RPM or so when I'm just driving normally. When I'm driving to the limit, I'll shift at 7,600 RPM or so. I shift pretty quickly as well...the lightweight flywheel requires that I shift quickly. wink.gif

2,3,4 around 4000rpm on average, redline when driving hard. I have an extrememly springy clutch (my left leg is probably bigger than my right leg now biggrin.gif) and a trd quickshifter, so I slam the changes pretty fast. Almost impossible not to get wheelspin going into second and chirping in 3rd..

Hey mike, I bet the exhaust, induction kit, blow off, plus all the other things you have done on the car also plays a roll on the sound it makes and the fun you are having.

Well, if i drive normaly i shift about 4000 rpm on all the gears. If i race, or hard driving shift about 6600 rpm, and i usually shif without releasing gas pedal, so i need to shift really quick to put in a gear. And i usually break with gears, so i shift into lower gear and release clutch and at the same time push brake... my clutch wears really quick smile.gif

normal drive= shift around 2800 -3200 1=0 0-15mph 2=15-25mph 3=25-45mph 4=45-55mph 5=55-xx and i'll just give her a little tap on the gas and let go real quick press down the clutch **** then slowlly press down the gas and while letting go of the clutch

hard driving= Shift around 5200-redline same speeds as normal driving
but as i'm giving her some gas i'll pop the clutch and shift at the same time..

lol

Normal driving, 3.5-4k all gears
When i am on "E" and dont wanna get gas, 2.8-3.1k
When im getting on it, 5.5k

The gas saving adds like an extra 3mpg. I used to think that i shifted pretty late at 4k, i guess im not the only one.

Doesn't it wear your engine down to not shift when you're supposed to? I feel the car lagging after about 4000 RPM's. I'm not a mechanic but I often thought that if I didn't shift at that time that something would eventually mess up.

its not going to ware your engine. its running it harder if you shift higher but thats it. its good to take it to redline every so often, not every day. Like when i shift i dont go pass 5500 unless i shift slow, because the idea is to stay in your power band. my car doesnt go any faster around 55.. i think max trq is 2500 an hp is around 5.. but im not sure . but like i said, as long as you stay within your power band, you will get the best acceleration.

I usually shift based on the tone of my exhaust... Since driving a manual is second nature... I just listen...
