Okay, I don't have a lot of time right now, and I did do a quick search, but couldn't find the answer to my question... maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but oh well...
My question is, what do yinz redline at? Everyone I know redlines at 6,400 rpm. Every aftermarket gauge has the same redline marking. Yet, my celi won't go any higher than 6,000 rpm, and redlines at about 5,700 rpm... Is this normal for a 97 ST Coupe? |

is the 7afe really safe to rev past that? Last time I checked they arent exactly bulletproof engines. But hey I could be wrong.

its not bullet proof but our engines can handle alot...i think stock you'd be fine up to around 6k-6.3k rpm but i'm not sure cause who honestly spends more than 3 seconds above 5.5k?

ok i'm not sure....this is just a guess but i'll say no not really....you'll just be able to pull a little bit longer and keep up the momentum
this is just a guess |

yea there is no point in raising redline on our cars unless you do other things, like hige compression and cams that are ground to make peak power at a higher rpm the only thing you might get from raising redline on an otherwise stock car would be to achieve higher top speeds, which doesnt make sense since a stock celica cant go much faster than what it does at redline in top gear. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

I've done 125, and it just couldn't push it through the air anymore, but it wasn't on redline either, i think i was at 5900

my 4a-fe would hit the fuel cut at 6200 rpm's... racer25, with a modified ecu, has taken his 7a-fe up to 8,000 rpm's and the valves started to float... these are non-interference motors

The 7A block has been proven to rev up to 8000+ rpms and live on stock rods and crank. Club4AG guys have built race spec 7AGEs and run them at and beyond 8000 rpms all the time... mind you, that's with relatively stock 7AFE rods and crank. The reason not to rev... well, you'll get valve float if you rev a stock head like that (GE or FE)... and it doesn't make any power past that without performance cams. As for my 7AFE... the rev limter is at 6700 something... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
