None of them
 Actually by filtration Element the best one is A'PEXi Super AIRFLOW filter, next would be K&N. A'PEXi is dry filter - this means you dont have to wash it and oil it, but it will last for about 50K miles and then you have to trash it OR try to clean it, what i did K&N is a wet type filter - this means you will have to wash it and oil it, that it was able to filtrate air at his best, but it will decrease airflow... You deside.. -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

K&N is more cost economical...unless your goign to be doing good things with ur engine, get a good, not overly expensive filter (Apexi) like the K&N.

I personally think the ram air intakes are much better than the drop ins. I get a lot more performance out of mine despite what other people around here might say and have said.
That being said - I have a TRD drop in I might be persuaded to sell. It's used but infinetly cleanable and is a pretty red that you can barely see around the rim of the box. Make me an offer. --------------------  |

Well first...we dont have ram air. IDK if ur talking about a cone filter or not but its not ram.
And I was torn between the K&N and Apexi, but the Apexi just was way to much money, but i've also seen many debates about how better the Apexi actually is over the K&N, so i just decided to get the K&N. -------------------- |

Ram air is air forced into the intake through the motion of the vehicle at speed. This is generally done with a scoop or duct of some type. A cone filter on some pipe is not a ram air intake; whoever sold your intake to you was calling it ram air for marketing reasons.

really all of them will work the same.. but they all wont last the same length.. somthing like apexi might last longer then one with a cheap filter.. Iv used k&n before.. and right now im useing one of those chepo ones from e-bay.. same dang thing.. just dosnt last as long.

Its not the same thing. You get what you pay for. You pay less, you get less airflow and less filtration. You may not notice anything, but its not the same thing.

Well, then i searched for good AIR FILTER i read a loooooooot of material on the net, and had seen a looooot of independent test on A'PEXi K&N, HKS, Greddy and on and on.... THE BEST FILTRATION AND AIRFLOW has A'PEXi super airflow filter SECOND place is K&N. I bought my self A'PEXi just for the reason that it has best filtrating element, cuz if you take any of wet tipe filter put it in front of the light sourse, you will see a lot of small holes, that are going to be filled in with oil. Then oil dryes - dust will enter your intake... A'PEXi how ever has basiclly the same filtrating element structure as stock intake, but the airflow is better in that case.
Im not trying to force some one to buy this filter or somthing, but im just giving basic info, that helped me on desidion. Everyone hase different tastes and needs, so if you care about your engine life, then I suggest APEX'i... As about airflow - best airflow = NO FILTER

Filter comparison
i was looking around the web on what filters to get for my home made CAI and i came across this page. a note about cheap filters. I once bought a cheap white cone type filter for my old car and drove with it for a couple of months.. The filter stayed white and clean, so i was a little worried whether it filtered air well.. SO i sprayed some K&n filter oil on it, and 3 months later the air filter was all nasty. I don't trust those filters anymore, and i would not go cheap on something that protects my engine.. |
