I drove a RHD land crusier when I was in australia. It had the same shifter style as ours in the US. The only weird thing was shifting with my left hand...WHy is it illegal? There are people where I live driving RHD vehicles.... So whats wrong with it?

SOmeone bought the car...I wonder what hes going to do with it??? Damn lucky person biggrin.gif

It's not illegal at all, notice U.S.P.S mail trucks...all the Skylines that are imported by MotoRex are RHD cause well they are only made that way. As long as a car can pass X number of crash tests and pass emissions you can sit anywhere you want, even in the middle like the McLaren.

I don't know the legality of RHD in America. I do know for a fact the Toyota or customs does not allow importing Toyotas to the U.S. I tried to import a 96 alltrac in the summer. I talked to everyone from the epa to customs to some toyota dealership. I don't think the U.S. or Canada will allow Toyotas imported. I saw a 95 alltrac snuck in through Cali once and it sold for $30,000. It was marked as a GT vin number. Somebody knows somebody.

ok, this a very commom question about RHD. it is illegal to import a full rhd gt-4 (6th gen) to the u.s. BUT if they cut it in half first it is considered parts. so what you can do and what i MIGHT do (not sure yet) is take out all the interior parts from the front and rear cuts of an ST205 and put it in your USDM celica. the frame is still the same so it will still be legal. you can get a the two cuts from JARCO INC. www.jarcoinc.com they charge 4500+shipping. once i get someone to buy my other front clip i will get the parts from jarco. then i MIGHT do that conversion but not sure how much work or how much it will cost.

but anyway that's all i have to say.

and if you want order them from jarco it has to be prepay only. and shipping to the midwest (iowa) is 500 for each cut.
