Im on a mission to restoring my car to near factory condition , as far as I can. And Im going to do a few things soon.
Plugs and Wires, and fuel filter, I think I can manage. Can someone help with fuel filter placement and how to install a new one. What other things would help make the car run better and smoother (idle doesnt sound too pretty as seen on the other thread) I'm also very new to cars (can change plugs and wires pretty easily, change oil, gonna change fuel filter soon with your help) My friend is going to help me with brakes soon. How much do timing belt changes usually cost, Im pretty sure I'm due for one of those soon, but i know thats probably the last thing on the list cause its the most expensive. |

timing belts are just normally changed every certain milage, i can't really think of it, but someone probably knows. Hyp3R, just get a tooth brush, some brake cleaner, or some really strong cleaning agent, and spray the tooth brush. Then you open up the butterfly on your throttle body, and scrub scrub scrub (the inside and the butterfly).

Timing Belts are cheap, installation costs are expensive. Good luck.

haha, i actually don't have any other suggestios because i use break cleaner to clean everything mechanical wise, haha, great stuff, you would love it. Don't get me wrong, but i think when i replaced my timing belt, 80,000 i think is the suggested time, it cost about 600, supplies and labor. Would've done it myself, but i didn't have the time.

Timing belts are cheap and 96+ (I think) you may need to get a tensioner, maybe 50 bucks or something. It can be very hard to do, on an accord you need to take the top end timing covers off which isn't too bad, just removing alternator and such. the hard part is the lower end, have to jack up the motor, take out the front mount, and lower it slightly to get clearance. That's just on an accord, dunno how celicas are.

Had all my belts done about a month ago. If your doing the timing belt get all
the others done at the same time (alternator, power steering). If I'd taken it to a dealership the cost would have been around a grand or more, luckily my cousin is a mechanic. Expect a minimum of 5hrs work (GT4 engine bays packed to hell) ,if a standard GT a little less. Oh and you'll have to by a timing belt tensioner just as a precaution if the old one is damged during removal. |

you don't need to replace your pvc valve unless you pull it out and it doesn't rattle when you shake it. If it rattles, it's fine.
