I think that is the oil warning light. You should probably check your oil immediately whenever that light comes on, as I think it only comes on when your oil level is dangerously low.

If the engine oil level is normal and there is no oil leak anywhere, then;
1. Your oil filter maybe too dirty and blocked(when was the last you had your oil filter changed??). 2. The oil level sensor maybe a bit loose or dirty. 3. Worst case. The oil pump is problably getting too weak to pump the oil up.. if so... bring your car to a garage asap!! |

Yeah, you really should change your oil filter. It's supposed to be changed with your oil, which should be changed every 3,000 miles.

Your oil filter is problably clogged by now. Changing a new oil filter should solve your problem.
Try not to run the oil filter more than 5,000 miles. It's bad for the engine as all the untrapped dirt are being circulated and accumulated inside the engine. |

if you are running good oil and using a good oil filter you can run 6mo. or 6k miles. That's the recommended drain cycle for the amsoil that i use and it works fine. With a synthetic oil it has enough detergents in it to last that long coupled with a good filter wich usually consists of three different types of filter media. It's expensive though. About $15-20 for the filter and $5-10 a quart, but hell we only need 4 quarts.

What kind of filter are you using? I use Toyota OEM filters, which are proven to be excellent in tests for all cars(Some domestics use Toyota/Lexus oil filters.), and they cost me $8 or so per filter. ![]() -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...
