Well as many of you know i have the st185 swap and ever since the accident, sphinx and i have noticed that my car isnt running up to par... I honestly think that his is faster than mine, i know it depends on the driver also, but i mean on top of him being a better driver i still feel his car is running better. I have driven IN his car and actually driven it so i can tell. We have about the same mods yet his is faster. Well one of the things that we noticed was that my injectors are working pretty hard/high. When the car is idling or warming up, my AVC-R reads that they are working at 93% or so, but when i start driving it goes down to about 81%. Yet when i drive sphinx's car or even when Im in it it idles at about 84% then when its being driven it only goes down to about 81% (sphinx can verify the #'s).
Well sphinx has been wondering what could be the cause of this problem but he cant seem to put 2 and 2 together. So i am seeking the help from you guys here on the boards to solve this problem I am having. Thanx in advance, Almost boosting, David |

This is strange... The injector duty % should run up and down incorresopnding with the throtle.
My injectors duty is only 1% to 2% at idle... Is the "93%" the displayed peak value that the injectors had been used instead of the "real time" operating % ??? |

I agree with Lar-. Your duty cycles seem very high for idle, and they should increase with load.

Mine don't decrease, they increase.
When idle, my AVC-R reads 83%, then when i'm mashing on it, it increases, but not dramaticly. |

Yupp what sphinx says is true. Thats what happens with me. But today i noticed that when i tried to smash on it and just when i rev matched down into 4th they went all the way down to 77% that really pissed me off and worried me also. My car started to jerk back and forth which was my biggest scare. Anyway i dont know if it makes a difference that sphinx and I have the 2nd gen 3sgte swap and thats why our injectors are running like that?? Almost Boosting, David |

The "Jerk back and forth" should be "lack of fuel". The 2 culprits that I can think of are;
1. Dirty Fuel Filter(uneven fuel flow during high rpm or boosting). 2. Your Fuel Pump is weak. Are you still using the stock fuel pump?? |

1. Sphinx changed that on mine a few months ago, like 3 at the most. So i dont THINK that would be a problem. 2. NO, i dont have the stock fuel pump. If i remember correctly i have the Walbro....something i cant really think about it right now. So now what other options can i look for?? If i have to ill check the fuel filter again I will. Thats not any hard work. Almost boosting, David |

I did change his Fuel filter. That thing was clogged up nasty. As for the fuel pump, his swap was done at a shop in Sacramento. I'm not exactly sure if they "actually" changed his fuel pup to the Walbro 255 lph. I know not to trust shops, cause they can easily say that they changed something , when in reality, they didn't.
One important leasson for anyone, if you have the means to do things on your own, JUST DO IT. |

Yes sir try going with the walbro 255 for the MKIV. Which i think is the one that most people have been using for the swap. Someone can correct me if im wrong. David |
