yeah, price yet to be announced. but for something that does 0-60 in 4 seconds flat, i'd have to agree w/ that price tag.

I'm sure the 7th gen was first released mid 99. At least in Japan and Australia because both models were available that year. I didn't know about the 1st gens @ 7 years (ta kwanz), but considering they haven't announced the new car or shown concepts, it would be at least a year or 2 away.

Even if they were released in 99... doesn't mean they're a 99 model. We're looking at release models... not the actual dates (that's a bit nit-picking wouldn't you say? wink.gif) Anyways... we're counting cars as they're listed for model year, not the exact dates they were released. The first gens ran 70-77, second gens ran 78-81, third gens ran 82-85, fourth gens ran 86-89, 5th gens 90-93, 6th gens 94-99, and 7th gens currently at 00-04.

Actually...the new "Supra" isn't going to be called a supra. The actual name has been keyed the Toyota 5000GT in a recent Automobile magazine. Yes it will be aimed at the supercar league and yes they will come out with something to this effect...won't be called the Supra though.

And I have high doubts to the whole SC 8gen...besides that's in UK. Overseas gets more performance oriented vehicles while the US doesn't. It has already been said and released by me and XE_Nathaniel that the Celica will end as the Scion name is going to likely take over because it is aimed at the younger crowd. This is the way me and Nate found out Toyota is going about this, well more what I figure is happening from me and Nate's research (includes talking to Toyota exec's, as well as much reading). Scion will be aimed at younger kids as well as midlife crisis people looking to hip their lives up (kinda like what the PT Cruiser did), Toyota will be used as is....to market famous family cars such as the Camry and Corolla while holding places for some useful SUVs, Lexus will keep its aim as going for higher class people who don't want a Bimmer or whatnot.

I guess that's more my speculation of all the research. BUT we do know that the Celica will likely be done after this 7th Generation and will most likely be replaced by the car stated earlier: Scion Tc. Also, it's been said that 2007 is the aimed release year for Toyota's new supercart...actually it's been said many times in many different sources so I'm beginning to believe that's when.

Longest running celica? How do you figure? 6th gens= 94-99 5 years. 7th gens= 00-04 4 years. and I believe the previous generations beat both.

LOL. Let's learn some math...

94-99 isn't 5 years...hmm 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99...that's 6.

00-04 isn't 4 years...hmmm 00, 01, 02, 03, 04...that's 5

oh and then the person trying to prove the bad math person wrong by saying he's being too picky...yeah 70-77 is 8 years...i wont coutn them out though

LMAO you people crack me up...trying to prove people wrong and you can't even do basic math.

... If I could go and buy a 7th gen from my Toyota dealer in 1999, and the car had "produced in 1999" stamped on it, I would say it's a 99 model. But hey I'm not from the US, and I wasn't talking about US models.

Dude I don't want to argue with you, I don't have the time & you are obviously a perfectionist and won't accept me saying something unless it is 100%. With my previous posts I said "I believe" and "I think", I wasn't stating that info as fact. I also was trying to point out that it will be at least another couple of years till the next celi (which you promptly ignored). Thanks for pointing out the 1st gen run, I will now restate the point I have been trying to make:

The 7th gen will have a longer run than recent models.

Happy?

now now boys, behave your selves or you will be sent to bed with no dinner. Come on guys, try to be constructive when posting.

For example. i was seeing a car show on TV a couple of days ago and they were presenting the new Lotus Elise. Great little car and very fun to drive. But the most interesting part was that the presenter said that the engine on that car was a 1.8 L Toyota engine (prolly Celica) with about 180bhp. Thats not much but when combined with a rwd 2 seater with weight under 900 kgs was quite amazing. Post on this if you like. wink.gif
