 Suspension Techniques anti-sway bars, question |

When I got my sway bars installed, my rear creaked very loudly. It went away after 3 days. Now, my fronts have begun creaking. The creaking is like a rubbing sound and happens when I hit a bump. We used the lubrication that came with bars on the mounts. Anyone else experience this? What did you do to get it to stop?

I also have this problem, and it's very, very annoying. It's particularly loud on the front passenger side of the car.

I had the same problem. Its b/c the front sway bar is running up on the undercarriage sheet metal. This rubbing is located next to the left front sway bar busing. I had to get a screw driver and a hammer and carefully bend the metal up by prying it. The squeak went away after that. You have to be careful b/c you can punch throuhg the metal. I accidentally did. I covered the whole area with lithium grease. That stuff is water proof so its all good for the hole.

This is true for me as well. Jeremy, when you say bend the metal up, do you mean the undercarriage sheet metal? How did you tell what part was rubbing when you got underneath the car? Was the rub area easy to see by marks that were left?
You are right that Suspension Techniques call them 'sway bars' rather than 'anti-sway bars'. However, in the 'industry' they are referred to both ways. I prefer anti-sway bars because it is more technically correct. Yeah I had to get under the car to see where it was rubbing. You should be able to tell. The bar bends up and rubs the undercarriage sheet metal. ITs not ahrd to do, just a little cramped b/c I could only jack up one side at a time. The squeak is gone 100%. Hope this helps. you might want to, i heard the sway bars are so stiff they snap the end links. |
