[SIZE=7][COLOR=blue]

Hey Guys, and Ladies. I am a current fifth gen. owner. I am very determined to get a sixth gen. gt. Basically I would like to know what the differences they could be through th 94 -99 years on the celicas. Even with body shape, performanc, interior changes. I would just like to know if they are all the exact same or if they have some that changed throughout the years. I know that the gt is a better factory performer, but anything other than that please help. Thank, I appreciate it.

Stock the later years look better. Most have sideskirts and all have lost the big smile. Definetly get a GT and definetly get 5 speed. The coupe/hatchback thing is personal prefrence unless your going for a kick *ss stereo system as well - and then only hatchback will do. wink.gif
Good luck. I know where there is one in the houston area for sale.
Also check out the already swapped (to 3S-GTE) cars for sale in the buying/selling forums. Some of those look promising and will save you the hassle of the swap.

I went for a '99 since its the newest 6th gen you can possibly get. I figured id rather have a 5 year old car instead of 6,7,8,9, or 10 year old car haha Either way these cars are da best!!....Good luck with your search!!! Cant wait to see what ya get biggrin.gif

Some(maybe all...I'm not sure) later model Celicas have the three spoke steering wheel instead of the four spoke model. Also, the '96 Celicas are the twenty-fifth anniversary models. Some of them will have this on there, and I think there are minor other differences such as seats.

The biggest difference is the bumper. As stated above, the 94-95 version is different that the 96-99 version.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

on this link right here that LK posted, it says that leather seats were not available on the ST.

This is false, or I have a freak from the factory.. I have beige leather seats... perhaps it was an option?

My ST is a 96, 25th anniversary edition (the title of the car even says 25th aniv. liftback) but it lacks the badging. It does however have power windows / locks, and all the options you can get.

also the 96-99 had slightly different finish on the wheels. the 3-spoke sport steering wheel was standard on all models 98-99 years. The spoiler was redesigned for the 96-99 years. Side skirts were standard on GT hatchbacks from 96-99 as well.

Some Celicas came stock with 4 speakers, some with 6, and some with 8. That's as far as I know... I'm not sure if that's only in the GT or whatnot.

Also one thing I didn't see mentioned: The 96-99 has a three post spoiler and the posts are not at the edge. THe 94-95 has a two post spoiler that are the edges of the spoiler. Personally I like the 94-95 body style, and actually chose it over a newer one when I was looking to buy, but its all a matter of taste.

One thing for people with the 8 speaker: Where is the last pair? I have the 6 spekaer set. Two tweaters on the corner posts of te doors, a pair of 4's up front, then 5 or 6's in the back. Where do they put the other pair?

Yours only has 4's in the front? mine are about 6.5 or larger. the back speakers are 4.5's and the tweets are tiny and mounted to the side mirrors backing plate.

Correction: I checked. The ones on the door panels are 6.5", and the ones in the back seat are 6". Where would the other set be?

I think that the other set up high in the doors on the cars with the eight-speaker setups is probably 4" on both sides.

That's what they appeared to be when I saw them on saturday at the junkyard. As for where they are at - if you draw a straight line from the tweets to the lower door 6.5's they would intersect that line at about the height of the door handles.

ohh i forgot this, and im supprised nobody else mentioned this either- the 96-99's have MUCH more sound deatening materials in them because of critisism that the 94-95s were too noisy. I can atteset to this being very true, one of my best friends has a 98 liftback that is WAY more quiet then my 95 coupe... after hearing the difference i will have to say that the 94 and 95 years really are noisy cars...
