I have Valentine one which considered to be the top radar detector and got busted once. Lesson- don't speed up when there is no one around, because you're the only target.

I like your 'lesson', but I have to strongly disagree. I think that it is much more worth it to get an outrageous speeding ticket than to put the lives of others in danger. My most recent ticket was for 104 in a 70. Mind you, I'm 16 years old and this is my third ticket. The other two were for 12/13 over the limit, respectively, but this one was with zero other cars around, going at a rate of speed that I'd never even consider with another vehicle around. If you choose to put your own life at risk by driving at those speeds, that's your decision. I've made that decision, and I'll stick to it. But if you choose to put your life and the lives of others at risk, then you're a fool and deserve the worst of punishments for your actions. My lesson - don't speed around other cars, you're endangering the well-being of innocent motorists. -Brian |

Parents are pissed and I have restrictions out the ass to say the least. I'll be calling DPS on Monday to find out exactly what is going to happen with my license. As far as I know, a point system was enacted in Texas Courts in September of 2003. However, when I spoke with the court clerk in the city that I received the citation, she mentioned that if you are to go over the alotted points, that you could pay a fine to retain your license. Suddenly money buys everything again :)

I like my cobra, but it only workED when there was a cop in front of me, if he was coming up behind me, i have no clue. Which brings up the story against the rockets, hahaha. I just jammed it in first accross the intersection, and then they passed me doing wheelies and i clapped my hands. Then i said out loud to my friend, that would suck if there was a cop, and by george, the lights went on in my rear view mirror, and i got to hear the roar of the undercover impala fly past my poor dinky celica. what a night.

chucho... if it was radar the he was tagged with... he should have the right to see the radar, or at least have it checked for accuracy on the scene... depending on where you are...
As far as laser goes... you don't get to see that, you get to see the judge. I'm not a believer in radar/laser detectors at all. Radar is becomming more out-dated everyday, being replaced by laser detectors. How confident are yinz with laser detectors? Say you're driving along the road, and you're speeding. Next thing you know, the laser detector supposedly picks up a laser being fired... so you slow down. But so what... you still got tagged by the laser, you just know in advance that you'll get pulled over. How are the laser detectors at picking up lasers from above the car? Cops in my area sit on overpasses pick out individual cars, then tag them as the pass them. People never see them. Of course, they see the cop sitting on the side of the road a mile later, so they slow down, but that cop is just wating for them to pass so they can pull them over... doesn't matter what speed they're going at now. |

Laser detectors = useless.
Laser scramblers = godly, but stupid and illegal. Cop sees you going "above 75" and gets a return of 45; your ass is screwed and you've interfered with an "investigation" Valentine One = the best you can get- but it guarantees against all speeding tickets- how did you still have to pay for that one? |

Was driving up hill behind some cars then finaly got a chance to pass them right before going down hill. As soon as started to go down hill radar went out like a christmas tree. Of course, I was his first target. |

Man you guys suck at evasion. I am 19 and go at least 20 over whereever I go. 85 in 65 all the way to work. Never been caught, never had a speeding ticket, never even been pulled over.

What is it you expect us to do?
Two days ago I was about to be pulled over by a cop and took a quick right into a shopping center while he was behind a curve still. He missed me, but he knew I was in there; so he waited and watched the exits. I had to watch HIM for half an hour before he got bored enough to pull someone else over, then I made a break for it. Even closer to now, I pulled a u turn after racing a civic because I was headed somewhere. seconds after I pulled the uturn, a cop on a cycle blazes past me- goign the direction the civic and I were going- with his lights on going 90. So smart one, what do you do when a cop pulls out behind you with his lights on? Make a break for it? you're the dumbass. TTE- I mean the valetine one GUARANTEES you won't get a speeding ticket... and if you do- they pay for it- why didn't you take them up on it? |

I have the Valentine One and it has saved me countless times. Prior to purchasing, I had 14 tickets in three years. Since buying it in August of 2002, I have had one ticket. On that one, the Valentine never went off and the cop showed me the radar. 81 in a 65. I still wouldn't drive without my Valentine.

You still didn't answer my question, how exactly would you evade it? What makes you so much better than us?

You see, the fact that I have NEVER been caught going fast. I used the wrong word, I shouldn't have used evasion. I am sorry that I used the wrong word there and I am sure that there are many better drivers on here than me. JUST DON'T BE SO DAMN STUPID WHEN YOU DRIVE! Thats how you get caught, that is also all I was trying to say. God some people get so cocky when they have quick cars that look fast. That's why I really don't like import owners. They are so damn cocky me myself included sometimes.

*shrug* I drove for 4 years- fast- without getting a ticket. It has nothing to do with how "safe" you drive, or "cocky" you drive really; you're going to get pulled over eventually if you consistently drive faster than the speed limit. At 19, you just haven't expierenced this yet and are filled with the arrogance of youth still.
mmmm... arrogance of youth |
