Chips are a waste of time.
True performance gain can be had from piggy back computers like Apexi SAFC and new ECU's like Tec #, Motec 4, Autronics SM2 -------------------- West_Minist

If you wanna get something done to your computer that will be worth your money, then send your ECU to EL Prototypes and have them upgrade your board so it removes the rev limiter and sets your shiit to your current mods.

If you are just going to do mild tuning, get the Apexi super AFC. Unlike the Venom, it can be tuned. Thus you can transplant it onto anything you buy. Only get a motec computer if you are going to do heavy mods. If I just bought an engine, could I use a motec computer in place of the ECU?

trd makes a chip for the throttle body that allows more air flow it costs about $300-$350 and it increases up to 20% more hp. after this next thing is a camshaft but cali has smog regulations . so if u have some money do the chip at trd i hear it works well from my teacher who races drag cars and is an expert on cars.

ECU upgrades don't really do anything but lower your gas mileage unless you have extensive modifications. if you have a stock car, or intake/exhaust, a chip will probably net you about 5 HP. the venom module sucks btw, it kills your gas mileage, and doesn't really do anything. if you want to do any tuning get an apexi SAFC... that won't do much, but it will give you a little help. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

Just as I said.
My advice to everyone that is wondering on chip ugrades, here is the answer. Go out an subscribed to magazines like Turbo, Sports Compact Car, Modified Mag, Super Car and so on. A nice aftermarket P-ECU like TEC III, AEM, Autronics, Motec, Haltech are very good computers. Let me try to reason here to some hard heads Want performance, this is the guy who cannot wait and know everything but nothing. Keep REPLACING UNTIL GET IT RIGHT. RESULT $1000's DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN. The Guy who knows alittle, but have little money but little patiences: BUY SOME PIGGY BACKS, DO THIS & DO THAT. RESULT $1000's spent and cockpit full of devices. Here is the wise guy. He read, make notes and thinks on what he wants or need. He go over and over again on his plans. He ask knowleageable people on what he wants. He call the manufactures and get details from them. After feeling confirm, he starts his phases. 1 by 1 he attains his objectives. Do you know a cheap computer that is over $600 will allow you to change Fuel/air ratios, change boost, let you chose different maps, nitrous control and more and more and more and more ...... -------------------- West_Minist

The computers I mention are to replace your ECU. There are programmable ECU. You can do what ever you like and more. Check them out. Also, check out my thread which has alot of links. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=662 -------------------- West_Minist
