compression ratio, working with turbo? Options

people are always telling me that if a car has high compression ratio than a turbo is not going to be good for it. Should the engine be rebuilt or reinforced to handle this? do new fuel injectors need to be added to match the extra air from the boost or are stock ones fine? What are the compression ratios for the 6gc models? I have heard that honda engines can handle this better and thats why they are so highly modefied.

Quick answer:

I believe 6GC's are 10.5:1 compression ratio
Go 8.5:1 if you are turboing

High compression pistons are bad because the turbo compresses the air, and thus if you have high compression pistons... its compressed twice. BAD. High compression pistons work great for N/A (naturally aspirated) engines because they act like a mini-supercharger.

And one more:

Hondas are some of the worst engines for turbos. Their compression is high on all models except Si and Type-R. The engines are "maxed out" as for adding HP without changing internals. The reason these "wonderful" cars are highly modified is primarily due to one man.

Hondas are cheap, and have ENDLESS counts of aftermarket num nums for the teenager with a McDonalds wage. Nothing beats 200 different style of "Altezzas" for $89 bucks shipped! And remember "Vinyl adds Horsepower".

honda's the only major car company, i've seen, that never made a car w/ a turbo...it's all about vtec to them. and of course vtec = high compression ratio engines which obviously works bad with turbos
