u know the light right by the rear view mirror. look up when ur in the drivers seat. thats it. it never worked when i bought the car. how would i go about fixing this? what do i need to buy?

First thing... check the bulb
Then check the fuse.
If you have a multimeter pull the light assembly loose and check for 12 vdc at the back of the switch... Switches do go bad.
