Static when the sound is down, What is it Options

Today I swapped cd players between my Celica and my MR2. They were both Pioneer and looked identical in the back. But now the cd player in my Celica is staticy when the sound is all the way down. Also, whenever I turn the sound all the way down, it makes this loud "click," then proceeds to do the static.

I checked all the connections and everything and they're fine. Everything is plugged in exactly as it was on the other cd player. And everything is fine when I have the sound on, it's just when I turn it all the way down it "clicks" then does the static. Could it be a bad connection somehow?...

Have you tried a line/noise filter? You can buy them at Wal-Mart.

Nextel? they have attendancy to make clicking noises in my car occaisionaly and my computer speakers

What other parts do you have in your speaker system? Are they grounded properly? Try grounding them to the same spot, making a grounding kit for your car, etc.

Improper ground is the #1 cause of static. Your new pioneer probably has a smaller signal to noise ratio (crappier) so you can hear the static. Maybe

Well, they both worked fine in the previous cars they were in. It was just when I swapped both of them, the one that was previously in my MR2 and now in my Celica (the cheaper of the two) is making the static... does that help any?

I don't know much about car audio... much less anything about a ground kit Maybe I'll just take it somewhere to get it fixed. But I don't like spending money on something I can fix myself
