its not that nobody knows that shorter piping is better its the fact that theres alot to work around. Do you have a 3s or a turbo? Theres no details or pics in ur profile.

yeah i agree

Is it a constant 15? or does it vary? You probably have a leak.

But how does it feel?

I just noticed, and don't ask me why i just now noticed this, but wouldn't the top mount intercooler be better over all. Especially for drag. If you don't follow, you'll notice that there is only half a foot from the turbo to the intercooler, and another half a foot from the intercooler to the intake manifold. That means LOTS less turbo lag. So, wouldn't your gains (at normal psi) be the same from putting all the piping and weight into the front mount intercooler be the same as leaving your top mount, with the at max, foot of piping??????

in theory yes, in practice no. The speed the air is flowing through it makes little difference.

do you have an aftermarket exhaust? or catalytic converter? the lack of backpressure could cause this, although my gt4 ran at 13 psi stock

I believe the Caldina has a W2A but dont quote me on that.
Under the 6th Gen hood theres not enough room for a bigger IC, its a tight fit already. If you want to remain TMIC and the most efficient then W2A is the best.

sorry man its A2A wink.gif

I have researched this a bit for my GT4. Well the tmic is quite good but if you upgrade your car and tune it for more than 400bhp the tmic will not be sufficient and you will need a fmic as you dont really have a choice on size for the tmic.

andy at fensport was running 440bhp on his tmic w2a. But thats definitely the max though!!

Sure, shorter piping is good; but a FMIC will outperforman a smaller TMIC any day. And a LONGER pipe will outperform a shorter pipe that goes over the turbo/manifold. Honestly, you're talking about boost lag; but with a TMIC or piping that goes over the manifold; longer piping is better anyday.

He was running stock (or so i believe) on the 2nd Gen 3SGTE - which is roughly 8psi. Gutting all cats and aftermarket exhaust cant increase the boost that much, I have aftermarket exhaust & intake and stock for me almost 10. 3rd Gens stock ~12lbs.

Who did the install? Did you mess with the TVSV?
