check your tranny mounts. this can allow the whole unit to slip out of place. you can put a pry bar under it and check for movement. otherwise it could be a linkage problem.

ok well it aint your trans mounts, there are 3 of them plus there are dowel pins that hold the transmission in place so it cant rotate.
you shift linkage may have come loose so check under your shifter unit and ontop of the transmission itself. im still thinking its your synchros -------------------- hows it taste motha f*cka

I think it's the clutch. A tranny will usually go through various "degrading" phases before it actually locks up completely. It usually doesn't just happen out of the blue. What makes you say it's not the clutch?

The clutch holds good when the car is in gear. I just cant get the clutch to disengage when the car is running. If and when it does disengage its hard to get it in and out of gear but I can syncro the motor to the tranny so I can shift with out useing the clutch then it shifts fine. If it was the synchros it would grind when I shift like that. Thats why I dont know what it is. I tried to replace the slave but that didnt work, and the master is good I still have good petal feel. So if you guys can help that would be great.

try to see if you can shift the car while it is not running. if you can, and you have good pedal feel, then the problem is probably with your clutch.
the clutch has about 4 or 5 springs on it....sometimes they can get damaged and will cause the clutch to not disengage. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

i know there are three mounts, but they can go bad. when they deteriorate (do you have leaking oil around the engine? this will eat the rubber in the mounts) the tranny can drop and misalign.

That's unlikely... that'll mean the engine is tilted also... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

The tranny is bolted to the engine... so it cannot misalign by itself without throwing the engine off balance. I'll assure you that the tranny will be the least of his concerns when the engine is thrown off balance, not to mention you have a better chance of being dealt a royal flush in poker than losing all motor mounts because of "oil"... please don't continue further if you don't know your stuff... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... all i'm saying is that this happened to me and the mounts were the problem. the engine and the tranny can both be out of line due to one or two mounts being shot. not saying a lot, not saying that's the problem. just saying it's worth checkin it out.
