CelicaSTX02 has used it before. He wrote up the how-to article on how to wrap stuff in carbon fiber.

I use it at work quite a bit. NOt that bad to work with, just wear a mask what its in the dry form. We like to call it black aspestice (sp?). Its nice because you can use poly resin if you wish(cheap). we use wes systems Epoxy though. Just make a good mold, but Id have to say making a bumper might be expensive using CF.

hmmm I don't want to question you, but I also don't want others to go out and buy polyester resin to work with carbon fiber. so just a word of warning from what I've read polyester resin can not be used with carbon fiber, basically your only choices are epoxy and vinyl ester. also I've experimented a bit with carbon fiber; not as easy as I thought it was gonna be for sure |

I found pushing and pulling the strands so it actually looks good to be difficult. I'm only attempting layovers for looks so obviously its really important that the carbon looks nice underneath the resin/clearcoat. basically I messed up the first couple attempts, not anything worth posting pictures of, maybe I'll try again this weekend.
honestly tho I don't think a splitter will be too bad. just make a fiberglass piece and do one layer of carbon on top. be sure to experiment with the cloth on some smaller pieces first tho. also for some tips/questions check out the forums at fibreglast.com, theres a forum specifically for layovers. |

ya ghost, Ive just been told it works. I dont have first hand knowledge that it does. I work more with kevlar and I know poly res wont work on kevlar. Thats where I heard about the difference between CF and Kevlar. Anyways it is definitely not easy but there are tricks we use with epoxy to mold things. CF is a nice look though, I would be afraid it would crack when hit on a body kit though, CF is brittle.
