I was wondering if it is possible to get a little over 400 hp out a 3sgte with $10,000 including the engine swap. also should you get the cylinders bored with oversized pistions to get more power?

yeah, and you'll need a new tranny. But getting the engine there is a piece of cake.

including the swap though? pricing the swap at $3500 (you can easily spend that on a swap) that leaves $6500... thats having to squeeze over 150hp out of 6500 bucks... im no engine expert, but it seems kinda hard to me...

lol, with boost thats EASY
slap a boost controller on the 3s, new exhaust, new manifold, turbo and intake manifold... (500)(400)(1000)(700)(1000) thats about 3600, and will land you at 400 if you raise the boost a little to about 12 or so. Remember, eclipses and stuff run 18 psi STOCK; the 3sgte has a TON of potential just by raising the boost pressure. |

you will need the engine, FMIC, mr2 tranny with lsd, clutch, fuel system to support 500hp(dont want to cut it close with fueling), fuel, spark and boost control, turbo upgrade, full exhaust, water injection and more than likely more things.
idk if you can do it for $10k with tuning and labor and misc crap that you will need during the swap. thats also not including internal engine repair/modding. sure, the stock parts can take 400hp but thats right at the limit, and when you run right at the limit, you have an unreliable car. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Yeah, it wouldn't be reliable until you upgrade the engine internals a lil. and I forgot about fuel system upgrades, but thats below 500. |

what do you think that average price would be for the swap, new internals, biger turbo, boost controler, etc. would be roughly 12,000-15,000?

thats a decent discussion on what is needed to get to your powergoals. lots of different opinions, so just make your own conclusion from their chatter. personally i value jekylandhyde's opinion, hes got alot of knowledge from dealing with noshoes and lots of tuning people with his car, so hes learned alot, not to mention how lucky that guy is, nearly 200,000 miles on the car and drag races it every season, never been rebuilt lol also note when they say "FWHP" they mean flywheel horsepower, not front wheel horsepower -------------------- Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... or buy a gt4 for $10-$12k from japan or a country that has jdm imports, then use the other money to ship and register it (might cost alittle more than how much you got left), and then you got AWD w/ 250hp, and that'll beat a FWD w/ 300+hp off the line and in a drag. Then over time just soup it up.

Where are these eclipses that run 18psi stock? With a t25 turbo? They run about 12 or 13 stock. You can turn it up to 18 but how long is that engine gonna last with it that high and a t25 turbo is not gonna last long either. |
