Due to the wreck I had a while back, I am working on replacing many of the parts on he front end. This includes the front bumper absorber (large piece of styrofoam molded to shape of front bumper). While researching, I discovered that this is only sold for the 94-95 years. My question is will it be okay if I skip the replacement and save $$$.

NO... its not very advicable, most likely the later years have some other sort of absorber, if you dont and have a wreck then it can really do much more damage.

you can try to fill the inside of the bumper with expandable foad, like the mono stuff in a can.

My 97 celica has the foam stuff on the inside of the front bumber too. the foam is there to absorb small bumps, while the rebar is used to take on serious accidents.

He's not talking about the aluminum reinforcement bar that bolts to the frame, but rather the piece of solid white styrofoam that goes between the reinforcement bar and the bumper itself. What the styrofoam does is help absorb impact by giving a bit when an impact occurs. Without the styrofoam piece, the front bumper would smash all the way back to the re-inforcement bar in a light impact, which would cause greater damage to both vehicles. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Yeah, I doubt that it's illegal. The foam, however, will probably save your headlights if you're involved in a fairly mild impact. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...
