After 110,000 Mi, and recently having repainted the car, I decided to switch to Valvoline Maxlife. Anyone else using this? I will tell you I used to pay $6 CAN for 4L of Toyotal 10W30, now its $15 for Maxlife.

Personally I use Mobile 1 fully synthetic, and a mobile 1 filter that is specifically designed for synthetic applications. I pay about 37 dollars US for all of the stuff to put in on my own. Its expensive but boy is it worth it. When I used conventional oil the engine would be laggy at the top end and would be shaky at idle. I started using fully synthetic oil and everything started running smoother. At the top end the engine runs so smoothly now its unbelievable. The maxlife has protectants added for longer running engines. But I say if I can get better protection AND a smoother running engine why not fork out the extra money? I'm sure maxlife has is a good oil but I don't like conventional oils any more.

Castrol is another good oil company.... fully synthetic of course. My friend uses it in every car/truck/suv he owns and loves it. The rally GT Four is sponsored by Castrol and they run it in their engines, if that oil can stand up to that kind of abuse it has to be good. I believe that in many various tests, AMSOIL came out in first place for longevity and protection... mobile 1 came out 3rd and 4th and castrol was 8th and 9th. They used two different types of mobile 1 and castrol so thats why there are multiple placings for it.

ive been running Mobil 1 ever since the car was bought new. my uncle works for them and they did a test and Mobil 1 synthetic can run for like 25,000 miles without needing a change. i wouldnt push that i still do ever 2.5 or 3k. never had a problem with my motor. my dad and i have also keep up regular mataince and all and have never had any problems on the car, my timing belt is still in perfect condition and has very little stretching and wear (104k on the motor)
