ok. you still will need the key in the on position..there's really no way around that, other than if you wire up a switch...i had mine set up to where ONLY the button would start the car...so you had to turn the key, then hit the button...

the wire you need on the ignition cylinder is the black/white wire. then you'll need a constant 12v, then a 12v when "on", and a ground.

if you want it set up like i had mine, just cut the white/black wire, and run the end coming from the body harness to the starter button. just leave the end comin outta the plug hangin. smile.gif.

it's different. the push button start is just like turning the key..you will just need to have the clutch pushed in, etc...

You can by-pass the clutch, you can also by-pass the ignition.. well key start.. your goign to have to get some sort of acuator or somthing thats timed.. like hook it through a remote start or somthing, so you dont blow your starter.. I personally think its the stupidist thing you can do... an If ya do it, dont tell anyone

so its like an auto start but you need to push the button
does it also turn off the car when you step on the brakes or something

i guess I just need something to warm my car up for winter that is a lil bit faster and safer than leaving your keys in your car

Ignition Push Button is not Auto-Start

This is a feature that is found on the Viper and S2000 to name two. You put the key into the ignition, turn it to "on" not "start" and then hit the "Start" button normally put in the cig lighter. Your car will start as if you turned to key to "Start." Auto-Start is found on alarm systems and keyless entry. For a manual you'll need a clutch-bypass so the clutch doesn't have to be despressed to engage the ignition. This of course is dangerous if you leave you car in gear and dont set your e-brake. Automatics will be fine either way. The "start" button is an awesome add-on to any car and makes a great "talk piece" as the MaryKay ladies would say. I'd either put it in my cig lighter or the circle area at the top of the left vent of the steering wheel. If someone would like to do a full how-to I'd love to see something written up.

not to be rude, or I may be mistaken, but I think he knows the dif.. I think hes looking for just a push start button, so you dont even need the key, like just have a remote for the alarm, an thats it..

From this it sounded like he didn't know the difference between the two. Now, an auto-start from a push button without keys is plain silly. Anyone can bust in and drive away. Maybe I mis-read.

haha, what are you goin to pad lock??, i actually figured it out i'll take the ignition out but leave it inside the dash with the key in it 24/7 in the start position (i can still access the key to take it out though) and i'll have a kill switch for the electricity to the ignition so its not always on...or sumthing of that nature i'm not sure what i'm goin to do as of now just tossing around ideas, thanks for the info
