OMG CAN SOMEONE JUST LINK ME TO AN AMP AND A SUB THAT WILL WORK IN MY CAR ON A STOCK HEADUNIT AND LINK ME TO THE SPLITTER!!!!!!!

I think that a good sub for you may be an Adire Shiva...they're dual 8-ohm voice coil subs and have awesome SQ for $125 from Adire. You'd most likely want a class A/B amp that puts out maximum power at four ohms bridged for the sub. Let me do a bit of research and I'll try to find you a good amp/sub/line-out converter combo. smile.gif

Actually coom, it will; he's got to split that signal line off of somewhere.

and if he gets a new head unit, he DOESN'T have to split it, and just runs easy peasy RCA wires.

A good line out converter also is like a line driver...it relies on external power to boost the signal going to the amps, and a good line out converter won't make an audible difference on the speakers that are on the lines that you splice into. wink.gif

But he still has to split the signal off of someplace, which means opening up panals, etc etc etc - to me, if you're opening up panals and splicing wires, it's just as hard (if not harder) than buying a harness, hooking up a new head unit; and then laying down RCA wires- no cutting/splicing involved.

JL 10W3v2 (midpower 10" woofer, perfect for what you listen too) , you might also want to look into a 10W6, but you'd need a different amp than I'm listing

Alpine 350W amp; make sure your sub is 2 ohms NOTE: This has the speaker level inputs you need!!!!!

Hard to find a 300W amp for under 200 dollars.. it looks like prices on amps and stuff have gone up since 4 months ago.. I wonder why

ricers damn ricers thats why the prices when up!!!!!! cwm13.gif

well i dont want to have a huge hole in my dash thats why i dont want a head unit, and it will probably be stolen if i put one in.

DC aint the safest place for car parts, especially car audio

all i want is a sub to go with my speakers, i happy with my stock upgraded speakers. they sound better then some cars ive been in that have systems.

so i cant run like a 150w amp or anything then?

thanks,

scott

You could run a 150W amp if you got a less powerful sub; the W0 still hits pretty hard for the 100-200W range.

Just look for a 150W, 200W or 100W amp with speaker (hi level) inputs on it.. then doublecheck some of the other audio threads to make sure the company makes good amps.

Same thing for the subs

A 10W3v2 shouldn't be enough to rattle your plate.. 2 of them together tho.. are smile.gif

So you just want some good bass that'll blend in with your stock speakers?

If so, I think running 150 watts or so to a sub will be fine...my 10" Infinity Reference running off a little more than 150 watts from a JBL BP300.1 at 4 ohms was able to hurt my ears in my '88 hatch. wink.gif

And unless you're looking for a nice brand name that everyone recognizes, I wouldn't go for JL stuff, unless you can get a really good deal on it. It's typically overpriced for what it is...the only reason I have a 10W6 is because it was $30. wink.gif

Really? I didn't find that to be the case at all; I find JLs dirt cheap nearly everywhere except good guys- they wanted 200 for a W3; I got mine for 100 each

and sev, those are amps smile.gif

As for profile; i've heard bad things.. but then people defend them.. and then I hear bad things.

as for Infinity, I haven't heard about the quality of their amps at all.

I was just about to purchase a 4 channel Pheonix Gold Amp, cus I've heard only good things; but suddenly it's 150 dollars more expensive everywhere!! AHH

It really depends on the type of sub that you get...a sub that has a resistance of 4-ohms would be good for either of those amps...if your sub has a lower resistance, such as 2-ohms, then a mono amp such as JBL's BP150.1 or BP300.1 would probably be better. wink.gif

I've never actually heard W3s so I can't comment on a comparable sub for around the same price range, but I know that my 10W6 is typically expensive, but I don't find it to be that great of a sub for the price that they usually go for...I'd much rather have a cheaper sub from Image Dynamics. biggrin.gif

I'd stay away from Rockford stuff...their subs tend to have pretty poor SQ.

A good budget system for you may be an Image Dynamics ID10v.3 10" sub powered by a JBL BP150.1. It'd be cheap, have awesome SQ, and fair output when you want it to get loud. wink.gif

SoundDomain.com is awesome...they'll pricematch CarMedia1.com and IkeSound.com to get you a really low price, which is nearly always lower than Crutchfield. wink.gif And their service is good too...I've ordered a few subs and some headlights from them and I never have problems.

eBay is good too...I get most of my stuff off of eBay. smile.gif

Oh, and TheZeb.com is good too...I've had excellent service with them too.

And Shid, you should listen to some Image Dynamics subs when you get a chance...they're awesome! biggrin.gif I used to have a pair of ID10s and they were the most musical subs that I've owned by far out of the eight that I've owned. smile.gif And the IDMax is excellent as well...not quite as good as the W7, but still a really powerful, really musical sub. smile.gif
