Thanks and when the car is done I will post pictures for you guys to see my toy celica speed

First off, welcome to the site! I moved your post by the way...you'll get better responses in this forum.
I've never heard of anyone swapping the ST165's 3S-GTE into a sixth gen. Celica. I think that you'll want to use the ECU from the '88-'89 Celica All-Trac or GT-Four(if the engine is JDM.) Other than that, I'm not really sure though. XXX_Mina just ran his car with a third generation 3S-GTE and ran a 14.0 second 1/4 mile. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

You'll need to run the 1st gen 3SGTE ECU because that motor had quite a few differences from the 2nd gen (which were in the MR2's)...

I am doing a supra tail light conversion andI did a carbon fiber spoiler, wide band o2 sensor withe digital analog gauge for fine tuning, and I went to a front mount intercooler to keep the air much cooler.I flowed all my injecters,I also put a vis full body kit.Took out the battery and put in a smaller one, pulled out all seats and put in 2 racing seats, and all air bags out.Using my 5sfe tranny no air conditioning just power steering.shaved the antenna and took out the motor and the rear wiper and motor.also jack, spare tire, rearseat belts.itrax lowering springs and 2.5 exhaust piping apexi n1 muffler,hi flow cat,3 inch downpipe.

ECUs differ from engine to engine.. they're built SPECIFICALLY for a certain engine, they have performance maps in them, etc; also, the number of wires connecting to the ECU differs from engine to engine; thats why it's important to have the right ECU.
As for an aftermarket turbo manifold, any one thats designed to fir the 3sgte should fit your ST165 motor. I think? I dont see how it'd change THAT much. But they're expensive, I'd change your turbo out before you get a new manifold to something other than the ct26; which you won't run 13s with. In fact, I don't see how you'll run 13s with the 1st gen 3sgte's without some engine work; they only had 190 hp Your carbon fiber spoiler only ADDs weight (our cars dont need a spoiler); FMICs all well and good; new injectors.. ok.. lightening.. looks like you've saved maybe 100 pounds. Air bags (wow, ok. I think you're an idiot, but to each his own) are a good amount of weight. Antenna and motor.. why the hell did you bother? same with the rear wiper. You took out the rear seat belts even? ... 2.5 exhaust.. ok.. and you didn't get a boost controller? |

You should be able to get away with running the 2nd gen ecu.... the wireing might be a little different but not a mojor problem that you could not use it at all. You can go with almost any manifold for the 3s and just match up the right turbo( the head exhaust bolt pattern is the same setup. For ex: the only turbo setup difference from the 165 to the 185 setup was the manifold and turbo were changed to twin entry and the downpipe is angled a little diff with an extra stud hole to bolt to the turbo. that means you can use either or to get what you want. 13's are deffinetly possible on the stock turbo with supporting upgrades but if you want to go alot faster you will need a better turbo! If you keep the 165 manifold ...... a cheap / easy upgrade is to get a single entry mkIII supra turbo cause the compressor wheel is bigger and it is single entry too. (it is a direct bolt on fit except for the wastegate actuator mounting setup). "i know for sure it will work cause i have done it b4 and it is not hard to do" this supra turbo will help to eliminate the top end issues that the stock smaller ct26's tend to have.
i think that is all you need to know for now? good luck! DG -------------------- |

I removed my air bags because they went off last year!!So it's a really good idea and sheds some weight!I also shaved off the rear wiper and antenna so I didnt kneed the motors anyway.I put a high brake led light where my rear fluid comes out and I shaved the rear brake light to draw the eyes to the supra mkiii tail lights!!I am going to up grade the turbo over the winter to t4 garret.I just wanted to know if the cop would work with the mass air flow and mr2 map.I think that the mr2 comp has every thing I need to run the motor plus some extras that the 88 celica all trac doesn't have! Thanks for your great idea for the supra turbo idea it might be some thing to look at.Im not saying that I will pull 13's but it is a goal for when I get the car out.Th3e spoiler I originall had on the car was a eribuni spoiler for my kit but it was to heavy so i went to a carbon kevelar spoiler and shed 15 pounds.I also took my day time running lights out and used it for air induction to the turbo.I added fog lights with the signal, day runner, fog light all as one and shed 2.2 pounds.Lots of people want to go fast but dont think of dropping wieght of the car.But I dont comprimise the looks either.D.G performance, You need to show me some of those strut tower braces.I need a new one!!

Do you have any photos of your car? It sounds pretty interesting.
I understand that you already saved weight by changing spoilers, but ff you wanted to further save weight(and it sounds like you're pretty intent on doing so), no spoiler would be the way to go. Also, the drag caused by a spoiler will slow the car down slightly. And I've heard that AEM's wideband 02 sensor works very well. I think a lot of the MKIV Supra guys use it on their cars. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

This is what I meant with my spoiler comment and BOOST CONTROLLER dammit. also, dont upgrade your turbo manifold if you're just going to get a different turbo eventually- because you'll need a new manifold then too. Also, if you've shaved the antenna off and everything; why do you still have the speakers, head unit, stock amps, etc? those things weigh a ton. I am still deciding on a boost controller.I almost bought a blitz controller with the dual solinoid and all the other great stuff but I have to watch my funds.I have done all this to my car just this summer!Im still in the midst of putting it all together thats why I dont have any pics yet though I should take some of during the process.I might go with a manual boost controller for now, I figure I want to crank the boost as high as I can get it before it starts to blow heat and lose power.thats why I bought a hks fuel cut defender!I have the brand new eclips head unit. Its not flashy but it is a serios deck.I have a 500 watt phenix gold amp and a single ported 12"mtx sub and factory everything else.My box I can just pull it out at the track, its small!!I also bought a apexi n1 muffler 2.5" I hope that I am going with the right size because I'm thinking maby I should of went 3" instead.Do you guys think it will be fine? And for the antenna question I used a antenna from a remote start kit and it mounts behind the rear view mirror. It works awsome!!As for the manifold question, I was going to buy the manifold for that turbo but, I thought somebody knew someone that make a manifold for a st165 and a ct26!!Any ways It's something Im going to do over the winter.Right now I want to get the car running and see how the car will perform and how fast it will be with what I have done. But does anyone think that a 91 mr2 3sgte comp will work with my motor?Because im guessing it will but thats a chance im taking because it seems like knowbody has done this before!I also have parts for sale if any one is looking for stock parts like 5sfe motor and corner lights and seats etc just let me know if I can help with anyones questions.Thankx and talk to you catz later!!!

A boost controller will gain you so much hp over a manual boost cut; it's not just a boost controller, but it will curve your boost so you have as little turbo lag as possible etc etc

hi shid i want to buy an electronic boost controler but im tight on funds.I know you are right!!I will have crazy turbo lag because of the fmic I have.21x9x3.Thats huge for what I have so I have to keep the boost up high to keep it a bit better. It will be perfect when I upgrade to a t4 turbo!!

FMIC doesn't increase turbo lag that much, its an old wives tale.
I dont get it, you've bought and done all this stuff; but a boost controller is 500 dollars; get that before you upgrade to a t4 turbo; I dont even want to think of the lag you'll have on that thing without a boost controller. |

That 2 is a winter project!I have had this car parked for 2years so now i just want to drive it!!I might have one anyways. My buddy has a 600hp mk4 supra and he said that he would sell me his greddy profec for 200 dollars so I think Im going to get it.What I really need is a e manage to run my fuel so I can tune my wide band o2 and dial it in through every gear and make sure my car is running 100% efficient.I also found out today that the computer that I have will work! It also plugged right in!On my celica the stock harness comes with the plugs for the 5sfe comp and the 3sgte computer and it plugged right in!!!!I almost have all the wires adapted to the all the jdm clips and stuff sensors ,etc.I just need to run my fcd, mass air flow, turbo map sensor, and wide band o2.I have to make a new hole for it because the comp still need to see the stock one there!
