As some of ya know, im in process of turbocharging my engine. Its lots of work, and me and other memeber of 6GC (Edoardo from Italy), where doing some research on this stuff. Well, there was few talks going on about 4A-GZE pistons, that they could be used in to 7a, to make sure the pistons would be stronger.

Well, Edo, bought Arias 4A pistons, and he is already reasembled his engine, and.... IT NOT GOOD NEWS guys... with 4A pistons compression ratio is not like in 4A 8.5 but it is about 11 in 7a engine... Piston height is the same, but 7A piston top is cuted a bit to lower the compresion ratio, and 4A piston top is flat...

So 4A pistons are no good, exept if you gonna use bigger head gasket or custom rods to lower the CR...

The first problems begins frown.gif

Uh oh...turboing a 11:1 7A-FE wouldn't be fun. frown.gif

Are the Arias 4A pistons for a 4A-GZE?

yup, they are for GZE, and i think all 4A pistons are the same (shape), only GZE are semi froged with ceramic coating... So, more problems, and they are pushing me back more and more...

Gonna go with custom rods i think, lower them, and lower CR too... or maybe gonna go with custom head gasket, to lower the CR still cant deside...

i posted about doing that earlier.......i figured 3 oem gaskets and some high temp gasket sealer would lower the CR a good deal....but what would this do the HP numbers?
