i was in my buddys civic with an H22 in it. runs 14.1 at 99.9 lol he cant break 100 hes pissed. but anyways. he can rev his car to 8.5k!! that insane. the 5sfe power curve jsut blows. 3-5k pull wicked hard. then like anyhting past 5 is pointless unless ur setting up for the next shift to be in powerband. what can i do. i was thinking of a polished GE head not a gte head since people say thats sumwhats difficult. or could i p and p the fe head? waist of time? i know 2jz valve are larger and will fit if the valve seat is bored out. so would larger valves help? haha lots of question i know. thanks guys.

I've covered this before in fair detail.

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=15749

To answer your main question... even with the GE head, without an agressive cam profile with a lot of lift/duration... you won't make any power past the stock redline. I also shared opinions on basics of revving the 5S block with the GE head and the power potential also. There is not much to gain in terms of running an n/a 5S block over the 3S block...

And also... IMO, don't bother with the FE head. The velocity increase is not gonna produce a whole lot of additional power or torque... with cams and fine-tuning and a lot of headwork, I've seen people get only like 30 whp or so (a lot of money involved)... either way, the 5S block doesn't like to rev and the FE head doesn't make power from increased revolutions...

>>>edited in<<<

you won't come close to matching the H22A in terms of "streetable" power. The H22A has a well built bottom-end to hold the revs even with its tall stroke...

Actually, I just realized you're boosted, so ignore everything I said above... cause headwork + boost will make much larger power % than n/a. The 5S block can run boosted and make very good gains with the 3SGE head, but a standalone ecu will be needed... or at least... very very reccomended...

however... you'll still not make any addtional power on the top-end without cams... and the 5SFE block still will not like to rev (not even mentioning the FE head's limitations on revving)... but a 3SGE head will increase top-end power with revolutions now that I know you're boosted... =D

alriight thats why i was confused reading it. now that u know. i was actually thinking to port and polsih the fe head with custom ground cams. and 2jz valves. or do a GE head with aftermarket cams. whichever the wallet likes best basicly. im going on ebay now to find a GE head.

You'll find a gte head for cheaper on mr2oc I think you could pull off the 2nd gen gte just as easy as a ge head.

Is that really what the stock redline is? I thought it was lower than that. wink.gif

x_itchy_b_x I used to have H22A on my 2.2 Vtec JDM Prelude and i was in the same position as you!!!You know what i`v done??I Install Skunk2 Stage 2 Camshafts with Tit Retainers and Valve Springs, polished the port, polished valves and i was using Skunk2 ECU for GSR with some changes.I was pushing the prelude at 10300RPM!!!!!Do you believe that??The car was pushing very hard!!!
So get a camshaft kit upgrade if you want to rev higher if its available.
