i was just wondering if anyone ever put on one of those chips that supposedly add 20+ horsepower that are CHEAPly sold on ebay. i see they just attach to a sensor, but i was wondering if anyone could tell me if it was a worthwhile purchase or some stupid piece. thanks

i guess all it does is make the ecu think its getting more air thus giving more fuel. but sounds like bull**** to me. i wouldnt trust it either.

tricks the ECU, yeah
Does it add HP? yup. Is it safe? nope. Can/Will either harm the engine, or the ECU |

It works! But it is a easy way to pop your engine on a hot day.It tells your computer that its getting cooler air then it advances your timing 2 degrees and then pop there goes your motor. Its a fifty cent resistor.your motor $800-$1500.Watching someones car blow up from a fifty cent chip=PRICELESS

Hahahahaha.... You really don't know what you're talking about at times dude... And to add to everyone else's guesses... it does trick the ECU... but it tricks the ECU to dump more fuel. That does NOT add power to our cars... This post has been edited by Kwanza26: Sep 4, 2004 - 5:46 PM -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

To end the debate...
The resistor tricks the ECU into running the car at Open Loop all the time, which the ECU runs a fixed air/fuel map that is a lot more rich than normal. That does NOT add power. Running at open loop is designed to improve cold start and other situations where the engine may struggle for a bit more fuel. That's all it does... does NOT add power... etc. Doesn't do anything to timing, and even if it does (some cars may, depending on ignition set-up)... it'll be very very slight which will most likely be because of the knock sensor or something else. End of these useless guesses... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
