Im slowly thinking about putting a magna flow muffler on my 6th gen. But im wondering is it worth it? Im wondering more about sound then performance but both do matter.

How much diffrence in noise does it make? How much deeper is it?

Also i have a GT if i go for a 2.5 over a 2.25 is there an adapter that i can use to keep the stock piping or would i have to get 2.5 piping all the way from the down pipe and back?

Whats the stock size for GT piping n e one know?

Ive search the forum and found that when it comes to muffler suggestions its the magnaflow or flowmaster. Ive been told that magnaflows are better. Is this true or a simple bias?

personally, a buddy of mine has magnaflow, and I hate the way it sounds, some might like it, but its too loud at a low rpm

but he also has crush bent piping, mandrel bends make a differance

I think (don't quote me on this)
the stock gt pipe is 60mm, like 1.7"

someone correct me if I'm wrong(which I prolly am)

yes Mandrel bends are a must.

If GT stock piping is smaller then 2.25 or 2.5 then could i jsut get an adapter or would i be best repiping all the way? If yes then how far back?

Can anyone attest to the way the way a magna flow sounds on their celica.

And before you ask lol i have searched the forum but found that the threads related to this topic werent really helpfull in the how to part.

thanks for the info

i have a magnaflow on my custom 2.25" catback, it sounds really good. it's not loud at low rpm, you start to hear it at about 3000 rpm but it's a good low tone.
i would recomend it but i don't think it will sound the same on stock exhaust.

I have a question... When i bring my car to the exhaust shop I will have to bolt up my mani and turbo so he can make a downpipe and 2.5 all the way back to a magnaflow muffler.. But i cant drive it home liek that because the turbo isnt all hooked up.. What will they do so i can put my stock mani back on and drive home like i jsut got an exhaust done??? Also i think this place only does crush bends.... and its the only one around here so i think i have to do crush

Err, why not?

You can drive home just fine with the turbo mani, the turbo and the downpipe hooked up.

You could even drive home is just the intake tubing was done, and the turbo wasn't spooling.

Why the heck wouldn't they want to? It'd be so much work taking everything apart just to add that ****y stock manifold again- and how the heck would you do that anyway? You're doing totally new exhaust right? In fact, there's NO way you could hook the stock mani back up- why would you want to? It doesn't hurt the turbo to spool when the intake isn't hooked up.

you would have to hook up all your oil lines when they're done so you don't burn up the turbo, and it would probably be a good idea to have the intake side of the turbo filtered. i think you would be better off to just install everything ahead of time and tow it to the exhaust shop.

thats what iam saying.. I wouldnt be able to run it because no oil would be going to the turbo.. Thats what i meant by the turbo not being hooked up.. But id rather drive it down, bolt up the mani, make downpipe and exhaust, then be able to bolt the stock mani back up and drive it home.. Just like basically getting an exhaust done...

what kind of set up do you 6gc owners have when running a magnaflow. What magnaflow (size oval ??) did you use and what exit/enter set up did you get. (i.e. offset/central central/central)

What kind of piping do you have and how far back does it go.

Details details.

thanks a bunch in advanced

id like to see some pics and maby gets some vids of ppl with magnaflows on.

right now i have a greddy sp, but have been thinking about going 3in trubo back, so i would need to buy a muffler with a 3in inlet. if i can, id like to find a muffler that comes close to the greddy quality.

hyp3rk1d...dont drive your car anywhere untill you are finished with everything but exhaust! for my swap, i had the stock down pipe hooked up, but the mid pipe didnt line up to the rest of the exhaust. i just drove it like that to the ehxaust shop and had them make me a new 2.5in down pipe.

most of the stock looked to be 2" when I had my stuff replaced..I went with 2 1/4" all the way back to a hi flow cat and res.

hyperkid

exhaust and downpipe are the last step in installing a turbo kit, unless you have the time and money to have your car towed to the shop, then towed back home

after i put all my turbo stuff on, i made a temporary downpipe out of flex tubing from pepboys

it worked, and it got me to school the next day and then the exhaust shop the morning after that.

if you want more details, pm me

we currently have the same temp setup on my friends 240z with a 280zx turbo engine, i can take pics of it for you so you know what to do.
