After waxing my car this morning I decided to try and tighten dowm my trunk since I noticed that it had some play back and forth in it... So i get out the socket set and start to undo the bolts to re-aline the fit, get it centered, and then start to put the bolts bak in and tighten them. All goes well for the first two, and then snap, one of the bolts snaps right off... now pissed off, I go to finninsh the last bolt, and snap again... needless to say now my trunk is being held by the left bottom and top right (this one just barely) bolts, thats it. It makes tons of noise now and is totally unaligned... I thought about trying to drill and remove the broken stems myself, but now i think the dealer would probably be a better bet... What do you guys suggest? Have any idea how much taking the car in to have it properly done would cost me? needless to say i cant figure at all why they snapped, there was no corrosion whatsoever, and 4 turns is hardly over-torquing...

go to home depot or where ever u can get drill bits and get reverse drills...this will allow u to draw the stems out...then take in one of the good bolts and get them to match it...they should have it...good luck...

or you can just dril and retap a new hole. but the screw outs called EZ-outs work just fine to.

Anytime you start a project that requires removing bolts and puting them in I would require two items... EZ-Outs, and WD-40 J- |
