I don't know where you're getting all of your numbers... but interior pieces just aren't that heavy. Rotors are not that heavy, and light weight rotors... I dunno man. Those suckers gotta stop your car... so I wouldn't trust anything "light-weight". As for being an auto, driving skill if anything, is taken away by an auto tranny. I personally wouldn't sacrifice the amenities to make an automatic car go faster. It's just pointless... cause automatic trannys are not designed with performance in mind. Sure you can manage the shift points and slightly control/alter the shifting... but I don't see the point in gutting a car short of all-out-race. Whatever floats your boat though... There are much more heavy pieces you can remove. The interior is not one of them... FYI... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

and it also weighs alot. theres a big difference between the weight of a manual and auto trans.
and last time i check plastic doesnt weigh anything. maybe 100 pounds was lost but i doubt anymore then that. and most of the weight is comming from your spare tire. also if you disconnect your hazards button then your turnsignals wont work This post has been edited by Sev408: Oct 6, 2004 - 9:46 PM -------------------- hows it taste motha f*cka

haha not to bust your balls like everyone else, But I just striped the back of my car, including spare, and weighed them nad only got about 25 lbs .. that was manly the spare .. Theres no reason to loose anything, def in an auto. Also unless the auto was designed to auto/sport ****, theres not mush of a reason, In my bimmer there was a dif, I couldd switch it, and the ecu let it rev another 1500 , but that was my bimmer, not a celi..
by the way, I would prolly spank you with my car, and the interior and subs in it. This post has been edited by Digndoug: Oct 6, 2004 - 9:52 PM |

hahah the spare only weighs 15 pounds. umm yea im not lookin to race. and if you did remove everything ...that means all the seats except yours, and all plastic, door pannels, a/c system, all the sound proofing mats underneath the carpet, the 2 rear speakes, the celling, all the mud guards and other palstics on the extieor, got after market rims weighing in at 14 pounds each including the tire, buy aftermarket headers out of thinner steel replacing the original cast ones.,and any other spare wires and electrical stuff. you will achive 400 pounds. and no you wont smoke me. i beat st's all the time by at least 3 car lengths. and i have an st.
so there you have it. i wil get everyone a very detailed list including weight next month. |

Now you're just BS'ing. 14 pound rims INCLUDING tires!? Tires weigh near 14 pounds by them selves... and even my RACING wheels (Konig Rewinds and Panasports) which are 14" and 15" forged and lightened alluminum weigh about 14-15 pounds w/o tires. Aftermarket header made out of "thinner steel"? "spare wires and electrical stuff"? You're just blowing smoke now. Them spare wires are soo damn heavy... As for beating other ST's by "3 car lengths" with an Automatic tranny... you're just kidding yourself. A 5 speed ST will walk all over a 2000 pound auto ST. Weight just doesn't mean that much with such little torque and horsepower... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

hmm well since i beat my friend 3 times by 3 car lengths each time i guess that doesnt say much. and since i actually did get a header made of thinner steel well that doesnt say much either. every little ounce counts all the wires and the spare thats right!!! i have no idea what tires your buying but they dont weigh even close to 14 pounds. maybe you should study a little bit more before you call someone out. i know your going off your information which is great casue you have alot of it. you should really think before you say someone is blowing smoke. espeacially me cause i only speak the truth. theres no point in lying. but were both very opinionated. which is great. and lets just leave it at that. casue were just butting heads. and id rather keep this sight a helpful friendly site. not a bashing and im right your wrong.

The point is... you're making an argument about something you know little to nothing about. I'll tell you, every performance oriented thing you plan on doing and/or are in the process of doing... I've been there... done that... short of stripping my car bare (at least not my Celica). At the very least, I've researched and have enough hands on experience to tell you in detail what works and what does not. I can tell you straight out, I've seen all of the aftermarket headers for the 7AFE, I ran one for a long time before I sold it here to a member... I've ran all sorts of tires through out the life of the several different cars I own, street radials, drag radials, slicks, comp slicks, track radials, you name it. I'll assure you, tires are NOT light weight stuff. Headers are built from mild steel, and although are thinner and lighter, would hardly be considered a lightening modification. Would you not rather brag about how much power it added, or how nice it sounds... instead of as a weight reduction mod? As for your race... if you wanna prove something... come race someone who actually knows how to race... I've said this OVER AND OVER again... your one little remote occasion does not make you some sort of a$$ kicking machine, in this case, a Celica ST slayer. I know for a fact, you will not even come close to beating many of the STs on this webboard. If anyone is studied up enough to call you out, it'll be Me... unfortunately, you don't know enough about anything that almost anyone here can call you on something. To close... when people ask serious questions after thinking about it... i'll always share good information and keep things civil... however, when they refuse to accept something simply because they're "opinionated" and don't wanna listen, I leave it at that... unless of course... they put up a fight using information they obviously have little clue about, then I'll have to correct them till the very end. I could care less if you wanna gut your car... but when you just go off talking about how great it is that your car can now smoke any Celica ST and that your wires and useless electronics weighed down your car, or your 14 pound wheels with tires... I'll just have to correct you to the end. This post has been edited by Kwanza26: Oct 6, 2004 - 11:15 PM -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

so i guess we wil have to go on then. as fo rme beating st's i did it before i gutted my interior, and before i put my headers, on and before i got my exhaust. i never race in a striahgt line. and i will beat you in a track!!. i used to race shifter carts. as for your knowledge, like i said before you have alot of it and i respect that. and i would prefer if you didnt insult my skills. it makes you look like a weaker man. once again i never said my celi was an ass kicker. i just said i could beat most st's because of my mods and driving capability. so thank you.....i tried to end this feud but you had to continue. oh one more thing, how do you know for a fact that i will not come close to beating an other st's on this board. have you ever seen me drive ???

Shady allow me to tell you something. Don't aruge with Kwanza. He probably the most knowledgable person this board. He's worked around racing for many years and I've never seen him show any signs of not knowing what he's talking about. Also, he kinda ran a 16.1 in his ST (w/ slicks tho). Sh!t, my best is 16.5 in my GT. And look at my mods.
Bottom line, a lot of the stuff you've done won't help. And driver skill doesn't help much when you have an auto. If you have a manual, you could downshift into turns, launch, rev-match, ect. I still say I and Kwanza could easily own you. Drag or twisties. You just have springs. It's not that big of a deal -------------------- NASA/SCCA RX-7....currently under the knife

yes it does take skill even with an auto. let me show you how..... so your flyin down the stretch doin about 70. theres a 25 mph turn coming up so you pop it into gear 2 (only have 3 with o/d). you tap brakes once wait for the tranny to kick in and slow you down. so now your going into the 25 mph turn at 60, you cut the wheel and accelerrate in the apex, becasue your in gear 2 you have more tourque. as your coming out of the turn you shift it back to drive. and punch it. that my friend requires skill. cause if you dont do that you fly off the hill and die.

If you just drop your car by one Inch you can make that turn at 70MPH without doing anything. No skills required, just balls.
You would also need the stablizer bar, which ST dont have. You should get one, just add about 4 lbs. |
