ok, i already thinking about this for long time... I bought SSteel pipes and elbows for my IC piping, but this weekend after puting everything together i saw that the pipes are way heavy... I was thinking about polishing them, but now i got a new idea...

What if i made all the IC piping from CF or Kevlar? I have buntch of those materials. I thought that piping would be lite, and strong. Is there any disatvantage of CF over the Steel?

Any sugestions would be cool...

does CF shock up heat if it does then it might not be a good idea unlet you wrap it in heat tape.. but then you lose that CF look ..

ROMAS... smile.gif
Sometimes you got some ideas.....hahahaha... smile.gif clever idea but you always have better Flow of the air in a SSteel pipes. You gave me a nice idea about making transparent pipes...what do you think?? smile.gif and put effects inside them while the air is moving some color waves to move with it....hmmm...

Seriously now....the SSteel match a LOT with the color of your car.

well, about the air flow, it would be basicly the same thing, cuz inside it will be all smoth, about heat soak.... hmmm... not sure, but anyway, i will make the piping with SSteel, and on these pipes i will take the CF piping mold, so basicly i will have 2 pipings, gonna try witch ones work better.

About the look, my engine bay will be all blacked out, lots of CF, Kevlar and etc parts, i dont want that shiny look anymore, gonna go more performance wise.

Mike smile.gif Are ya leaning to some RICE SIDE? Colored waves? Transparent pipes? it will be like kindergarden under the hood........ biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

smile.gif Romas.....hahahaha....i will suggest the transparent pipes to the guys with the Macdonald car..hahahaha...btw i told that guys is doing the swap with the 3SGTE??Its will be the first Ice Cream GT4 car ever made...smile.gif

Now about the pipes what i mean is,even the SSteel pipes are hot the flow its better.About the engine bay i dont like the idea of black in your car....cuz the inside its already painted silver so i think its much nicer to make it silver look,or try to find what colors can match with silver and choice one.

For my engine i like the red color(hoses, wires etc).

i dont think it would work, the burst pressure of a carbon fibre hose would be pretty low, the pipe would need to have a wall about 8mm thick!

My buddy has a mk4 with 600whp and he made his ic piping out of cf and it keeps cooler than aluminum. For example the runners on a new neon is all carbon fiber, and thats stock!!!That tells you something. And if you make it right it is as strong as steel but with the little flex, thats awsome.Trust me it is the way to go.And I know it works!!

I dont have any pics but it is all cf and then he puts it in a vacum bag and sucks it to the mold and then he gel coats it a few times. He is making all his door skins and hood and trunk lid and fenders all cf.He also makes custom fuel rails and throttle body intakes. The last time I talked to him he was trying to mate up rx7 calipars to his mk4 supra. He told me that the rx7 callipar is a 4 piston and the mk4"s are2 piston, and he would shed off a few pounds by doing this!!The guy is a genius when it comes to toyotas and turbos!!

i thought the mark 4s were 4 piston, same as the gt4 st205?

Sounds interesting, get me some more information if you can. Ive never seen intercooler piping in cf probably due to the expense of it people dont use it! But I was always told that the burst pressure would be too low. but form a cooling point of view it would be far superior

well, im not planing to run more then 12 psi, thats for sure... So for now i will run only about 6-8 psi. And thicknes of walls would be somthing near 4 mm so i think it will be enouth.Cuz like some one said, if it is done in vacum, it would hold pressure, and it will be very hard to break...

The mark4 is 4 piston on the front but no in the rear! And he runs 30psi boost on his single turbo using a 4 inch cf piping! The stuff is like steel but with the flex. And in wont scratch!!

Look up some of the Cyprus Meet pics....now take a close look at all the cars in the photos. See how clean all those paintjobs are? Then look for whats wrong in that series of pictures in the form of a Yellow/Red/Orange/Ass painted Celica that stands out in the worst way possible.

.....Thats the McDonalds car. wink.gif

The reason the cf is so strong he uses apoxy instead of resin. And he only uses 2 sheats of carbon fibre.I hope that answered your question!
