Hey I was just wondering, would it be a good idea to cut or melt my stock GT springs to lower my car? I hear some say its very unreliable and don't do it, but these are people that don't know much about cars so I just have to ask you guys to make sure.

its not a good idea to cut the stock springs because it you can never get the right consistacy in each spring.

and when you cut the springs your car tends to bounce every time you hit a bump.

the best way to do it is to spend 200 bucks and get yourself a nice set of springs.. you have to remember this affects your ride quality alot, so its worth the investment.

ok I was just wondering because some is selling cut stock springs and I just wanted to know if they are a good investment, guess not.

would anyone suggest aerospeed coils? there in my budget range I think about $170. If anyone knows any other brand for around that price please give me some feedback.

I have sportlines on mine and i love 'em! (dont look at my pics tho they are old) i paid about 200 for them and it dropped a little more than an inch and a half. but yah dont cut your stock springs. with aftermarket springs, they also have a higher spring rate to compensate for the shorter height.

a god mecanic cen do it. i did it to my old car st 182. and drıved it 3 years with no proplem. ony proplem that you can have it with orginal lowerın sprıngs too is is you lower it too much you have to open inside suspention and shorten it too. othervise you ll have some proplem.

cut spring are not a bad idea, but it tend to kill your shocks. The way I went I got custom lowered shock with shortend sruts & ground control coil overs.

i cut my springs also. yeh the ride hieght was awsome but whenever you turn the tires left or right i would hear a loud clunk like somthing broke and it was very loud. i ended up having them for about 2-3 months and i ended up breakin one of the whole srpings on my front passenger side when i was pulling up to my drivway.went to change them i bought eibach sportlines and i had to get 2 new rear struts becouse they were shot so i recommend you dont do it.

Springs are engineered for your car...they're that length for a reason; they are that stiffness for a reason, too. You're throwing off all the science behind them when you alter them in any way.

Plus it's really ricey. Downgrade performance for a "better" look.

Better idea: drive around with a carful of cinder blocks. That'll nicely complement the ground effects and Nos stickers.

I have not familarized my self with celica suspension yet but if the stock springs have a "dead" coil you could probably get away with cutting that off. If you wanna get it slammed it should help do the trick and not cost a dime. I do recommend however buying the right parts for the right job. New struts and springs all around will drop you and give you the handling benefit.
